Soooo, just thought I'd say...
I have a strange way of referring to band kids of different ages/experience.
Here it is: (assuming you start in 6th grade)
6th grade: Beginning banders, babies, first year students
7th grade: newbies, second year students
8th grade: Chills ('cos they freak out less), third year students
Freshman: Awkwards ('cos they have to learn how to march), fourth year students
Sophomore: fifth year students
Junior: sixth year students
Senior: sentimentals (band is ending! Leave me alone to die!), seventh year students
College+: I have no name for them, for I see them and run
And yes, I am aware that these names may not apply to all bandies. They're just a thing I made up.
And yes, I am aware that this makes band sound like Hogwarts. But, let's face it, band children are all wizards anyways. How else would we make music out of shiny, oddly shaped objects?
For the record, Snape would totally play bassoon.
