Band Nicknames

Band nicknames are honestly one of my favorite things about band. I could spend forever talking about them, but I'm only going to spend a really long time.

I mean, come on, who doesn't enjoy being called something ridiculous and embarrassing like "Buttpaper?" (True story)

In my school, it's mostly sixth graders who have nicknames. Every year, there is at least one:

Crazy girl

Special boy

Macho Man

Macho Woman

Nacho (usually during summer band)

Taco (usually during summer band)

Chipotle

Squeaky McGee (always a clarinet)

Chipmunk (usually several)

There are a few other nicknames I've heard. For example:

Floofy

Bingo (this was mine for part of sixth grade)

Teeny tiny

Mikachu (was obsessed with Pokemon)

Although it is rare, sometimes older students get nicknames. Examples include:

Niki Minaj

Jessica (kid named Alex. There are two kids with that name in the section, so on the first day of school, the band director goes, "Eh. We'll just call you Jessica.")

Mama Horn (mine)
