"Phil," you called out as you rummaged through the kitchen cabinets. "Have you seen my cereal?"

Dan's laugh came floating down from the office.

You rolled your eyes and pattered up to the office. You probed the door open with one hand and peered in. The sight had you raise an eyebrow. "What are you doing?"

Dan shushed you and continued what he was doing. "Silence, perfection takes time." After a few more seconds he clapped his hands together and turned to face you.

"It's not as weird as it looks," Phil insisted. He smiled at you. "Do you want one too?" He patted the seat in between him and Dan.

You gave a dramatic huff then plopped down on the couch. "Try not to poke me in the eye, brother."

"Hey, have faith in me." Phil chuckled as he worked away.

You remained still and nearly held your breath.

Dan nudged your arm playfully. "Trust him on this one, he did mine."

"You still trust him after the cactus incident?" You smirked even though he couldn't see your expression.

"How do you know about that?"

Before you could respond, Phil finished and handed you his phone in selfie mode. "Here, you can now observe my rad art skills."

You stared at yourself. You scrunched your nose to see if it would make a difference. The black nose and whiskers moved accordingly.

"Rad cat whiskers you got there." Dan commented and leaned into the selfie frame.

You smiled and snapped the picture.

"Hey, I want a picture with you too!" Phil insisted and stuck himself into the frame.

You chuckled and clicked a few more pictures. "Send them over to me, yeah?"

Phil ruffled your hair. "Of course."

Dan smiled at you. "You know, I think I'm starting to become more of a cat person."

You stuck your tongue out at him. "Totally chilling with the cool cats right now."

"Yes, I am becoming the cool older brother!" Phil pumped his fists into the air. "Now, I'm going to be right back to get some cereal real quick."

Your comment reminded you of your original mission that brought upon the trek to the office. Before you could scold Phil, he disappeared down the steps. You made a mental note to press him about your missing cereal the moment he came back.

"Hey," Dan began as he took out his phone. He turned you toward him and told you to smile.

You shoved a grin with both eyes closed at him. The action earned a laugh from him.

"A bit more natural, perhaps."

"I can't smile on command, you know."

He hummed as he thought. "When I was young, my older cousin told me that I had African bum disease and I would die if I sat down. So I remained standing for hours until my mum found me crying."

At first you stifled your smile but your attempts failed. You giggled at the thought of a naive crying young Dan.

A few moments later he turned his phone to you. The screen reflected a picture of you mid-giggle while donning cat whiskers. "You should change your profile picture to this. It's cute."

A pink flush appeared on your cheeks and you attempted to draw attention away from it by flipping your hair. "Of course I'm cute."
