The intensity and determination of Hakuryuu's eyes was unreal. He clearly wanted nothing to do with you.

"I assure you... This won't be like last time. I know all your tricks (Y/N)." The male in front of you stated.

'No you don't.'

"We'll see... You might not know this... But I've been holding back a little." You responded spawning enchanted fire in your hand. That was the start of your spell.

"So have I." He narrowed his eyes and activated his djinn to make vines take root in the ground below him.

'Here comes his wall of mutants.' You mentally sighed as you watched Hakuryuu summon a wave of beasts while taking cover behind them.

You quickly countered his move by electrocuting them to a crisp while keeping the flame maintained in your hand. The creatures hollowed in pain as Hakuryuu watched them burn.

"Oh... Okay... Looks like you don't depend on your sword as much as I thought." He commented lifelessly while blinking slowly.

"You're not the only one who has improved." You retorted calmly. "If you're not willing to listen to reason I have to choice but to use force."

'Even so... I don't want to hurt him and start conflict with the Kou empire.'

You summoned a large scorching aura that took the form of fire, it confined the both of you in a circle.

"That's right." He taunted. "Use your fire against me, it wouldn't be the first time I faced it." His face suddenly became dark as if he recalled a distant memory. "Not like I was planning to run anyway."

'It's not just some "fire"...' You plotted. 'It's an aura.'

"It's called back-draft." You murmured to him. "Your energy will be drained to me." You then stated louder.

Hakuryuu rolled his eyes as you waved your hand horizontally, completing the aura with a final command. The flames rose higher and embers were released into the darkening sky.

If you could pinpoint his location be getting him to stand still or staying one place, you could end this very quickly. But Hakuryuu is stubborn. He wouldn't let it happen easily.

The male clicked his tongue.

"I don't know what you're trying to do, but... I won't let it happen." With that, he twirled his spear and activated his djinn equip. "You see, your not the only one with a point to get a across."

You started by breaking the earth below him but he clearly saw it coming and jumped into the air.

'Good, he jumped.'

"I told you using old tricks won't work." He pointed his spear at you while in the air and a group of razor-sharp thorns hurdled to you at a high speed.

You gritted your teeth while casting an explosion that blew the threatening plant to bits.

The sky was now clear.

'Got him.'

Hakuryuu POV

'What even was that? This isn't how she would normally fight with me!' The male landed on the edge of the ring, almost touching the flames. 'Then again, (Y/N) hasn't taken her short-sword out... If i can get her to take it out, i'll know how to defeat her... But... This wall is annoying.'

Hakuryuu materialized an excessive amount of plants and immediately slammed them on the ring. There was a sizzling noise and a small amount of smoke from where the fire was.

Hakuryuu looked across to see the female in front of him grinning.

'What?'

All of a sudden his plants burst into flames. For some reason he now felt a little exhausted. 'That's odd.' He found himself panting. 'I normally don't get tired this quickly.'

Then it all kicked in.

His spear felt heavier, his arms felt sore, he was fighting to keep his eyes open.

He was too tired to keep his djinn activated.

Hakuryuu collapsed to the ground and let his head hang down.

'Don't tell me...'

"You're skill... Is no joke..." He said weakly while supporting himself with his spear.

'But...

Get ready Zagan, this is our chance!'

Your POV

With another wave of your hand, the aura was now gone.

"Hakuryuu." You stepped closer to him defiantly. "You will answer to me-"

Your eyes widened and you grunted in pain.

'What's that doing there?'

You could see the red staining your clothing as he drove his weapon in further. Your arms shook as you fell to your knees in font of him.

"If there's one thing you thought me... Never think it's over." The male then passed out against your shoulder while you stayed frozen, trying to comprehend what had just happened.

'It hurts.

Why does it hurt?

I'm pretty sure he shouldn't have been able to do that...

And yet.'
