The next day Victoria wasn’t at school and she wasn’t replying to my texts. It was unlike Victoria to just cut me out so I was a bit worried. On my way to my locker, I saw that Louis was waiting for me. “What’s up?” He said, leaning his back against my locker.
“Nothing much.” I replied. “it’s just that Victoria’s away and she’s not answering my calls or texts so I’m kind of worried…. And I don’t think I can survive a day without her to protect me from the Queen Bee Wannabees.
Louis laughed at me and put his hand on my bum. “Wanna do something naughty?” He said deviously. This is was so unlike him and so forward that I didn’t know how to react.
“Ummm, what did you have in mind?” I said awkwardly, trying to force a smile.
“Follow me.” Louis said, winking.
I followed Louis out the school gates and to the carpark. Louis pulled out his keys and opened the door to a big, black car. “Hop in!” He said, opening the door. Getting in, I watched Louis walk in front of the car and hop into the drivers seat. Louis looked at me and smiled. Keeping eye contact, he slowly leaned towards me to kiss me. Panic instantly filled my stomach. I hadn’t prepared for this at all, and I don’t know if I’m ready for this!
“Louis,” I said, cutting him short. “I don’t think I’m ready for this…. Like, in a car? It’s not very classy or romantic and we’ve only had one kiss-“
“-WOAH” Louis said, interrupting me, “I was just putting on your seat belt for you! I looked at his hand to see that he was, in fact, holding my seatbelt. Feeling like an absolute idiot, I face palmed myself.
“Then what are we doing?” I questioned. “I’m taking you to Victoria’s!” Louis answered excitedly.
I was shocked by his kindness. Louis was just the most sweet and genuine guy and I really felt a strong friendship building between us. “Thanks so much for doing this, Louis. You’re an amazing friend and a total badass for bludging school with me!” I said.
“Haha, not a worry! I know where Victoria lives because she use to throw the sickest parties ever. And… I kind of did this to impress you.” Sam shyly answered.
It was that moment that I realized that Louis would be a good guy for me. Not that I want a guy after everything. And sure, he didn’t look at me or smile at me the way Sam did and he didn’t give me tingles and butterflies like Sam did, but he was just such an amazing person.
We pulled up to Victoria’s house and Louis said he would come back and pick me up when I was done seeing her. I rang the door bell and waited on the step. “THEY’RE NOT HERE RIGHT NOW, SORRY.” I heard Victoria call from upstairs.
“Victoria?” I called out, heading towards her room.
“Lola? Is that you? Don’t come in!” She called out, as I opened the door.
When I opened the door I saw Victoria sitting on the bed with red, puffy eyes. She had clearly been crying… A lot. “Victoria?” I asked quietly. “What happened?” Victoria slowly turned her head towards me.
