July 14, we left towards the direction I pointed. It took that long for Shaggy to be awake and fine. His pulse was slower than normal, and he had deep cuts, but the worst was his breathing. Actually, it wasn't just him. Tina, Jay and Harry seemed to be having a hard time breathing as well. I have to admit, the air was different than above, but I could barely notice it. Gee, I wander why that is!
My clothes were tattered, and I had cuts through my clothing since the fall and the broken glass floor. Shaggy wasn't better. Tina had a wound ever since the chimera, but that was it, and Jay and Harry were quite all right. Except they weren't.
Now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense, a son of Demeter should be outside, in the fields or the forest, and a son of Hermes should be running around the sky tricking people over, while children of Dionysus didn't really had to be in a special somewhere. Satyrs belonged to Dionysus too, since according to Shaggy, Pan was dead. That would probably explain why Jay and Harry seemed to have the pneumonia and asthma at the same time, and being in the worst state even though they were the ones who had been through the least. Obviously a son of Tartarus wouldn't have that much of a problem.
At first, we though about flying to the Styx, but we were only a few meters away when we realised what a terrible idea that was. We were attacked by some bird-ish monsters and the air was even worse. We decided to go by land. That idea seemed good to me. So far, with all our experiences, I realised I hated flying. The ground always seemed safer to me. I guess that is heritable. If it was, then that would explain why Harry was always the only one eager to fly. Anyway, we walked.
Hours later, I felt as if we had walked for millennia. Each step was heavier. I can't imagine what the others must have felt. At last, I said what we were all craving for someone to say.
"We should stop and eat" I said
-"Please" Tina begged
She took the bag and got out an empty McDonalds bag for a Big Mac. She also got an empty chocolate bar, and an empty coke. Then it wasn't empty.
"Take whatever you like, though I recommend garbage, that way we won't be stealing" She said
Too late, Harry already had grabbed his burritos and water.
We ate. I had enchiladas.
While we were eating, a big serpent came to attack us. Luckily, I managed to kill it, but not before it poisoned what we had left of our food. We left it and kept on walking. We were walking when I heard another serpent nearby. And another, and other. Soon, I had about 20 snakes around me.
We drew our weapons. Shade killed a snake while materialising from the ground. Harry took two snakes and tied them together around Titan Slayer, which not only killed them, but it also was supposed to honour his father. Tina had gotten used to Kypello, which made it way easier for her to fight the snakes. Jay fought well with Sitari, but he needed more practise.
Suddenly, somehow, the snakes separated Harry and Shaggy from the rest of us. Shaggy was struggling to stand up. Harry was doing well though. Tina fought like a beast. She swung her blade until to any snake dumb enough to face her. Jay killed one at a time. Spears which are so long and bold aren't meant to kill snakes. I was great too. At last, we killed them all.
"Well done" Said a voice.
This voice was feminine, but all rotten, wasted and shattered. Her voice was followed by a lot of tiny hisses in the back.
I am no expert in Greek mythology, but a female monster with a lot of snakes sounds an awful lot like a certain monster I know.
"Medusa!" I yelled
-"Yes" She answered
-"Where are you?" I am not here. This is just my spirit talking, but I warn you kids, you will face me, and when you do, you will wish my snakes had killed you" She answered.
-"Go away you statue loving, snake eating monster!" Harry yelled
  No response.
"Good. she is gone"
-"Wow" I said
-"I hate snakes. Almost as much as spiders" he answered.
-"And yet, here we are, about to meet the serpent lady, everyone's favourite gorgon, Medusa!" Shaggy commented.
-"Shut up goatman" Harry answered
-"Hopefully, we'll meet Arachne too! Wouldn't that be-"
-"SHUT UP!" Harry interrupted.
Awkward silence.
After a few minutes, which seemed to last like millennia, a monster jumped out of nowhere and attacked.
It was not a chimera this time.
In front of us, a hideous girl was attacking. She had fire where her hair should be, but not like it was burning her, more like, umm.. have you seen Disney's representation of Hades? Kinda like that. She had fangs, gleaming red eyes, greenish white skin, and, wait for it, the most randomly horrible legs you could imagine. One of her legs, I can't remember which one, was a leg shaped piece of bronze, and the other one was a donkey's leg. Hideous.
Shaggy started playing his pipes, but as soon as he did, the monster did a super awesome ninja jump and took it.
"Empousa" Shaggy told us.
This demon lady, or empousa, turned Shaggy's pipes into shreds. Meanwhile, the rest of us drew our weapons. Harry charged forward. The empousa ducked. Tina followed, and managed to cut a tiny piece of her skin, and then she fell to the floor. Jay threw his spear, which missed her. I charged with Shade and barely touched her, causing her no injuries. Lastly, I touched the ground once again. I felt my spirit being lifted from the ground, leaving my body behind. This time, Shade was in my spiritual hand too. I charged. She did not (actually it would be could not) see me, so I got Shade through her, killing her instantly. And then I went back to myself.
She was dead.
After walking for another kilometre, we found a cave made of reddish stone, like blood. Usually, we would have walked past it, but I was exhausted, so we came in. I was starting to regain strength when we heard a little hiss. Then, it was two, then it was a thousand little hisses. After our fight with snakes, I was in no mood for another one.
We drew our swords, ready, when instead of a gazillion snakes, Medusa herself showed up, and I made the mistake to look at her.
