❁67 days before❁

I sit on the bench by the library just like before and i patiently wait for Aquila, in hopes to see her before her big trip this weekend to california.

after a few minutes, the doors to the library open and I catch a glimpse of Aquila from the corner of my eye and as I proceed to walk up to her, I see Hollis at her hip and I ball my hands into fist. he was suddenly everywhere.

Aquila has been keeping her distance from me and I couldn't blame her. i'd want to keep myself away from own myself too. i pick up my bag from the bench and i make my way to the car, passing right by Hollis and Aquila, who doesn't even turn to look my way.

i throw my book bag into the passenger seat of my car and i  turn the engine on, roaring to life and i decide to make a quick stop before heading home.

i stop at the flower shop that's a few blocks from my condo and i decide three large bouquet of red roses and i pay for them. i get into my car, placing them carefully on the passenger seat before i pull out of the parking lot and my phone rings on the console. i pick it up, keeping one hand on the steering wheel.

"hello." i say into the phone as i turn the wheel and i keep driving or at least i attempt to.

"austin, it's michele." the voice on the other line says and i sigh, stopping at an intersection.

"oh. hi. mom, can i call you in a little bit? i'm driving." i say, watching out for the green light.

"okay. call me as soon as you can, austin." she says before she hangs up and i place my phone back on the console and i tap my thumb on the steering wheel before i turn onto the right street.

i say bye to Hollis before i get into my car and i put my books and book bag on the passenger seat and i roar the engine to life and i sit, looking out of the rear view window and i look for austin's car, which i can't seem to find and i sigh, before i hear a tap on the window.

i giggle before i roll the window down and Hollis stands before me with a huge smile. "did you lose something?" i ask, resting my hands in my lap.

"yeah, i forgot to ask you something." he says, with a grin and i raise an eyebrow. "i wanted to ask you out to dinner." he says.

"oh. um, tonight?" i ask, scratching the back of my neck and he nods. "sure, is six o'clock okay for you?" i ask.

"of course. i'll see you later." he says before he walks off and enters camps again and i watch him greet his friends.

i sigh and i pull out of my parking spot and i drive out of the parking lot and i head home. i park the car in the driveway and i notice a car that's much like austin's that's parked across the street and i burrow my eyebrows.

i take the keys off the engine and i grab my bag from the passenger seat and i push the car door open and i hop out, closing the door and i head inside. i set my things on the couch and i notice the house is very quiet.

"mom?" i question and i receive no answer and i shrug, heading upstairs and i push open the door to my room.

i pull my shoes off, setting them in the closet and i pull my hair tie out of my hair, running my hands through my curls, setting them loose and i look into the mirror, unbuttoning my jeans.
