A gunshot is heard nearby;
neighbors are screaming,
women will be grieving soon
candles will be lighted,
as prayers go up
like smoke.
In a matter of hours
words and lights
will spread around
as another one falls down
in this dirty, little town.In here, a haunted place
the ghosts are the living
their shadows are the only ones
that can be seen in the streets
as a gunshot is heard nearby
and another one of them falls down.A mysterious case, said the young one
a helpless truth, said the older one
'And we could only be silent', said the bravest of them,
'or else'
as another gunshot is heard nearby. And the older ones begin to whisper their prayers up
like smoke
so that they may be spared
if demons are to be exorcised
out of here
God has always good intentions they know,
but even the sun gets covered up
by mere shadows
in an eclipse
as another one falls down
in this dirty, little town
as the shade disappears
blood is sprayed on the ground.*for the victims of extrajudicial killings in the Philippines
