"Are you okay?"
is a question I ingest on a daily basis.
I do not know
what people expect
Is it a romantic's answer
or an enlightened banter?
We need no more soap operas
when these days sympathy
is obliged, I wanted you to be free.I couldn't tell you much
but I assure you I'm extant enough,
a little subliminal
even.
I may long for my lunchbox days
were you're one bedroom away,
a lullaby, a tucked in shirt.
But I adjust my own sails now,
I say, how many times did I want this,
whenever a hurricane
would sweep my bare soul
the waves are rocky but
I had learned how to swim,
so I stay in motion. So hush now, stop asking.
You know we need no more soap operas.
Let me be an annecdote
I'll always repeat over and over again
after a windswept grin.
Though I worry if ever Haiyan
comes back again
would you still ask how I was doing?*Haiyan, is the name of arguably the strongest typhoon to ever land on any island in the world. It swept the Visayas region of the Philippines on November 8, 2013 and killed thousands of people.
