"Hey," Louis greeted happily as he caught up with Harry in the hallway. "Are you free on Saturday?"
"Saturday?" Harry repeated, thinking for a moment. "Depends on the time you're talking about. I'm going on a tour of Manchester University for most of the day."
"Oh. Alright."
Harry raised an eyebrow as he looked at Louis. He looked good today, Harry noted mentally. He always looked good. His hair was unstyled and messy and his blue eyes that Harry loved so much were bright. He could remember what he thought of Louis at the beginning of the year — he thought that Louis's life was perfect and pampered, and he'd thought Louis was dumb and rude and closed-minded. The boy standing in front of him wasn't the same boy that had made fun of him. Not only had Louis changed, he'd become completely different. Louis was stunning in every way. Louis was perfect, and not like how Harry had thought before.
"Would you like to go with me?" Harry asked, smiling in amusement. Louis had looked like he was expecting Harry to say something more.
"I don't know," Louis replied cheekily. "I was suggesting a date, but a tour of a university sure sounds romantic."
Oh. Harry hadn't expected that.
"You weren't expecting that, now were you?" Louis laughed. "Whatever you want. We can go on the tour and then somewhere, if you want."
Harry was too stunned to say something for a couple of seconds. "Okay."
"You look surprised. We can't say we're dating and then not go on any dates, H," Louis told him calmly.
The last time Harry checked, they were at school. With everyone in the hallway. Did Louis just not care anymore? Of course, Harry didn't actually mind, but since when was Louis bringing it up in front of everyone?
Now, apparently.
"No, I guess not," Harry said eventually. "Yeah, of course. It's a good idea."
"I know it's a good idea. I had it, didn't I?"
"Don't get too cocky," Harry said, biting his lip to suppress his smile.
Louis laughed in response. "When's the tour? And when does it end, so I can have some sort of idea how long I'll be gone?"
"It starts at noon. I think it ends at four. Or, at least they're going to try to make it end then."
"Four hours? They plan on making the tour four entire hours?"
"'s a big university, love."
"I know. It's just that four hours is a long time. Are we going to see Gemma?"
"If we have time. Probably so, after it's over. But now you're making me want to change my mind to hurry up and go on that date."
"I get to see you every day. You should see your sister while you can," Louis advised.
Harry only hummed and smiled at him. He was so sweet.
"See you at lunch?" Louis asked as they approached his next class.
"Yeah," Harry replied, feeling the sudden urge to lean down and kiss him.
Louis wanted to kiss Harry, too. Just a little one, enough to last them enough time until lunch. But he didn't. Louis smiled up at him through his eyelashes and tried to tell Harry that he wanted to kiss him without actually saying it. But whatever.
"Bye, Lou," Harry told him.
"Bye, babe," Louis said without thinking. Harry grinned at him as he took a few steps away.
Louis didn't step into the classroom until Harry was out of sight.

Louis had started to see things differently.
As he walked through the halls, partially looking for Harry and partially not, he could see people. People he'd known for years, people he'd seen but didn't know, people who'd just moved here and didn't know anyone yet. He could see a few couples, hugging or kissing each other goodbye (Louis wasn't sure why people kissed in the hallways, but it was kind of sweet).
Months ago, before he and Harry had gotten together, he could remember paying attention to Harry and his sexuality and being bothered by it. He could also remember Liam asking him why he was so bothered by Harry when there were other gay guys in the school, ones with boyfriends — and Louis not being able to give him a real answer. Sure, he's said bullshit about Harry shoving it in his face and everything, but Louis was lying. He didn't care about gay people. He'd never cared. He was never homophobic.
Harry used to piss him off for no reason. Louis would see him in the hallway and just feel instantly infuriated, like Harry'd done something to him. Louis then would say something to him, anything, just to talk to him and see if he could piss Harry off as much as the latter did to him. It always ended up with Harry brushing it off and Louis being more mad than before. And Louis wasn't entirely sure why.
Louis passed by two of the known gay guys in school holding hands and smiled without knowing it. They represented everything Louis wanted with Harry — Louis wanted to be confident in himself and his relationship enough to do that.
Harry used to piss him off, but now he just makes him impossibly happy. Louis looks forward to seeing him in the hallways and AP History and after school at the bakery and at Harry's house. Louis almost wanted to kiss him when he saw him, looking up at his pretty lips and pretty eyes and pretty face. Louis wanted to stand up on his tiptoes and close his eyes and push his own lips against Harry's and just feel him. He wanted to feel Harry's arms around his waist, hugging him, and he wanted to be able to do it at school. Partially. Part of him was terrified. Part of him wanted it so much it hurt.
Soon, he promised himself. Soon, he'd kiss Harry at school and hug him and hold his hand. He couldn't wait.
