Harry wasn't sure why he woke up so early.

He was glad for it, though. Louis was still asleep next to him with his arm laid limply across Harry's waist. The events of the day before swept across Harry's mind like a hurricane, and he flinched a little at the reminder.

But Louis didn't care, right? Or else Harry wouldn't be lying here with Louis. If Louis cared that much, he wouldn't have invited Harry over. Right?

Harry pretty much collapsed into Louis's bed as soon as he entered the room, but now he had a chance to really look at Louis's room. Louis was right — the room was impersonal, with no pictures on the wall or pictures in frames or anything. A bed, a table, a desk... that seemed to be it.

His gaze landed on Louis's face, and he couldn't stop the little smile from appearing. He'd seen Louis asleep numerous times, but he seemed... prettier. Calmer. He looked happy, and Harry liked that. Maybe Harry made him happy. Maybe their relationship wasn't all that weird.

Harry pretended to be asleep while Louis woke up gradually. He could sense Louis yawning, moving his arm off of Harry's waist, and stretching. Harry kept his eyes closed.

Louis hummed sleepily, standing up and stretching again. "Oh, Harry," he said, bending down to place a light kiss on Harry's shoulder.

Harry really wanted to "wake up" then, but he waited.

He heard Louis chuckle a little to himself. "You're usually up before me, so I don't really ever have to wait on you. So wake up."

Harry did his best to keep from smiling and blowing his cover. Louis was so cute.

"Oh, Harold!"

Harry rolled over to where Louis was standing, pretending to rub his eyes with fake tiredness. "What?"

Louis shrugged and grinned. "I got lonely."

"Whatever you say," Harry teased. "Your room is nice."

Louis glanced around, making a face of disbelief. "It's okay, I guess. It looks like something you'd see in a catalog, with nothing in it."

"Well, then it's nice because you're in it."

"I guess it's nice because you're in it, too, then."

Harry smiled. "Want to kiss me good morning?"

Louis rolled his eyes but did so anyway. Harry made him giddy, like he was always laughing and smiling. Harry grinned afterwards.

Louis settled back into the bed next to Harry after going to the bathroom, moving as close to Harry as he could get, even though the bed was big enough for them to spread out. Louis liked them being like this — close and sleepy and happy and warm. That was what Louis felt.

They ended up turning on the television, but neither of them really paid attention. Well, Louis couldn't speak for Harry, but he himself was thinking rather than paying attention to the screen.

"Do you think people can change?" He asked Harry gingerly, rubbing small circles on his boy's wrist.

Harry looked at him before turning back forward. "Uh, yeah, of course. Maybe not completely become a new person, because they'll always be who they really are, but they can make improvements to themselves and never go back to whatever was wrong before. So yeah. Definitely. What about you? Do you think people can change?"

"It depends," Louis answered thoughtfully. "It depends on the characteristic. And the person, too. Like, if I convinced myself long enough that I didn't like chocolate, even though I do, I eventually wouldn't. But if I wanted to change my complete outlook of life, that's difficult. It definitely takes a while, that's for sure. Emotionally exhausting."
