"Bye, mum! Love you! I'll be home in a few hours!"
Harry grabbed the bag he'd compiled (stocked with water bottles and snacks for him and his friends) and stepped out the door to see Louis's car waiting for him.
"Hey, cutie," Louis greeted, exaggeratedly checking him out. "Wanna go for a ride 'round town?"
"That sounded rather sexual, Lou," Harry said, but he couldn't hide his blush.
"Whoops." Louis didn't sound very apologetic about it; he sounded careless, and with his mischievous grin, Harry didn't doubt it. "We'll go pick up Z and Li next. Wanted to pick you up first so I could see you for a second without them making fun."
"Good luck with that. They'll make fun anyway. We'll just make fun of them back."
"The dream team." Louis smiled, locking his pinky with Harry's. He was excited for the day — a day full of spending time with his best friends and being able to be as affectionate with Harry as he wanted. No one cared at Uni.
"That's us," Harry responded with a smile. He, too, was excited for it, and he was excited to spend time with Louis. He had a couple of plans that he didn't know if he would or wouldn't follow them, but he wanted to be absolutely sure of them when he made his choice. It was something that would make Louis... well, Harry didn't know how Louis would react. That was what scared him about it.
"Let's do this!" Zayn cheered as he and Liam climbed into the back seat.
For the whole ride there, the four of them yelled loudly and off-key with the music that played, snacking on the stuff Harry had brought and talking about everything with each other. Harry thought it was the best day ever so far.
When they arrived, Louis led them (none of the other three understood why and how Louis knew enough about today to know where they had to go) to the place everyone who was waiting to go on the "tour" was standing. Louis locked hands with Harry, and Liam with Zayn, and everything was great.
Harry surveyed the campus as the college junior led the way. It was nice, he knew, but it wasn't the first time he'd been there. He hoped to see Gemma, but he knew the chances of her finding him were slim. He'd have to go to her if he wanted to see her.
"...the library is one of the central spots on campus," the junior said as the high-schoolers followed. "Most everyone comes in here to do research and work, and it's become a place for people to hang out."
It was nice, Harry noted. He liked the library. He liked reading and writing and books of all sorts. This one was pretty, with perfectly arranged shelves and a huge skylight covering most of the ceiling. He gazed at the students in there, and while most of them paid them no attention, there were a few...
"Oh, shit," Harry muttered, trying not to interrupt the junior as he hid as best as he could behind Louis.
"What?" Louis asked. "Harry, what's wrong?"
"Do you... um, do you see the guy with kind-of blond hair, looking over here? With the brunette guy who's sitting down?"
There was a pause while Louis searched. "Yeah?"
"Okay. Now stop looking at him before he recognizes me any more."
"Why would he recognize you?"
God, Harry was crazy for Louis, but sometimes he was so clueless.
"Just... forget it. I'll tell you when we leave."
