Flashback (Jade's POV)
"Jade!" I hear Perrie voice from down the hall. I could feel my muscles tense up as I turn to find her walking up to my friends and me. Oh no, I thought. She cannot be serious? In her hand was none other than my jumper. I must've left it at her house last night or something.
My friends eye me judgmentally. I can already hear the interrogation in the locker room now.
You hang out with losers now Jade?
You hung out at Perrie's place? Wow, nice to know you couldn't spare time for us.
Why is she even talking to us?
I could feel a migraine coming along.
I gulp, trying to swallow down my nerves. Perrie and I made an agreement. We can't talk at school, be seen here, or anywhere public together unless it was out of town. I sigh, excusing myself from my group, and hauling Perrie into a room close by.
It was empty...good.
I turn to face a very chipper Perrie. "Perrie, what the hell?" I yell in frustration.
Her smile faltered a bit, which was quite upsetting because she has a beautiful smile, but I had to stand my ground.
"I just thought you'd want it back." She whispers, her head hanging low. I sigh, softening up at the sight of her. She literally looks like a little kid when they're in trouble. I know I shouldn't yell at her, but she doesn't seem to get the situation we're in. I'm popular and I worked hard at that. She isn't, and I don't want anything to ruin my rep. And that includes Perrie. It sounds bad, but that's the way high school works.
I cup her face in my cold small hands. I could feel her shiver at my touch. "I'm not mad at you, love." I reassure. "I'm just frustrated is all." Hopefully, this time I can get it through her head. "Why does it even matter?" she asks. "We can look like friends, Jade. I can look like one of those airheads you hang out with."
"I know, but it's just a lot more complicated than that, babe. I know you don't understand now, but please just bear with me. I promise, once we're out of this hellhole we can be free to do whatever whenever as us. Just you and me."
She smiles at the thought. I look over her shoulder to make sure no one was watching us before tippy toeing up and planting a light kiss on her soft lips. She was startled at first before relaxing, putting her arms around my neck. "I love you." I whisper. "Don't forget that."
...
"Why didn't you tell me Zayn was Perrie's husband?" I yell into my cellphone, frustrated. I head to the bathroom of my flat and run a bath. I need to relax before I pop a vein or something. I called Jesy right after work to interrogate her. She was really the only person that knew about Perrie and me. She sort of walked in on one of our heavy make out sessions, so I couldn't really lie about it.
"I didn't know! I swear. I knew Zayn was married to a Perrie, but I didn't think it was your Perrie. I thought she was a lesbian." Jesy said. Yeah, I thought so too. "Was it awkward?"
"What do you think?" I snapped.
"Well, if you didn't want to see her, why'd you come back?!" Jesy yelled before hanging up on me. Crap, I'm going to have to call her back later and apologize.
I sigh, I don't even know anymore. I toss my phone onto my bed. I really need that bath now. I walk back in the bathroom and hop in the luke warm water after disrobing. I put on some music, and shut my eyes. I couldn't get my mind off her. She still looked the same from the last time I saw her. Silvery blonde hair, pale complexion, dark blue eyes. I squirm at the memory. It wasn't my finest hour that was for sure. I shouldn't have come back. I knew she'd still be here. She grew up here. She wouldn't have left. I should have stayed gone like I told her I will.
"Why did I come back?" I mutter before dipping my head in the water.
Perrie's POV
"So have you come up with a name yet?" Mum asks. I invited her out to breakfast to have a little mother daughter heart to hearts that she always wanted. I usually would just talk to Zayn about my problems, but I don't think I could confine in him the dilemma I'm in at the moment.
"Not yet," I tell her, taking a bite out of my waffles. "Zayn was thinking of naming him after his father, but I wasn't too sure about it."
She nods, taking a spoon full of chicken noodle soup. "So, why did you invite me to have breakfast with you, Per?"
"Can't a girl ask her mother to hang out with her without having a motive about it?"
"Not when it comes to you, Perrie." Damn, she knows me too well. I shrugged, staring out the window of the restaurant. It was a pretty good day out for this little town. It usually rains all the time. "Something's bothering you." My mum states. "Spill it. Is it Zayn? Did he do something? Do I need to beat some sense into him? He should know that he's not too old to be put over my knee."
I snort. Mum wasn't too keen on Zayn the first time she met him. He had his ears pierced, and a sleeve full of tattoos. She thought I was trying to rebel against her, which is kind of hilarious. So every time I tell her about my problems, she always thinks Zayn has something to do with it.
"Zayn didn't do anything, Mum." I reassure her. "It's about someone else." I say slowly. Her eyes go wide. "Whatever it is, Perrie. You're carrying Zayn's child. Never forget that." She said firmly. She didn't have to remind me. The guilt and extra pounds already do.
There was a long silence before I said. "Did you know Jade's back? I didn't think it'd bother me as much as it does. I don't know what's happening to me." My lip quivered. I could feel a tear escape. I sigh, wiping it quickly before my mother can see.
Mum had a sympathetic look on her face. She places her hand on mine. "She's our doctor, you know." This had Mum choking on her food. "I told Zayn I didn't want her as my doctor, but he's friends with Jade's sister, so I couldn't talk him out of it."
"You didn't tell him about her?"
I shook my head. "I wanted to forget about her, Mum."
She sighs. "Whatever you do. Please remember the baby boy growing inside of you. It'll help you from doing anything stupid." Hopefully, she wasn't wrong about that. My hands linger on my growing belly. I bit my lip, before going back to my food.
