Perrie's POV
It was like a waiting game, trying to find some good news on Papa. I feel like it's worst for me because I'm not tere with them. I really hope Mum is okay. I'd hate to think that she'd have to go through this alone. I hope Zayn's with her, comforting her in my absences. Finally, my phone rang with Mum's ringtone playing.
I breath a sigh of relief as my mother gave me the good news. We chatted for a bit afterwards. I asked her how she was doing there, and how was Charlie. She said he was growing everyday, which had me frowning a bit. I want to be there to see it all. After we talked I hung up and turned to Jade, who was watching me intently on the beds. "Papa's okay." I told her. She gave me a sweet smile as she scooted over to make room for me. "Thank you for staying with me."
"I'm just glad you're okay." Jade softly whispered. She snaked her arms around my waist. "Now let's sleep, kay?" I nodded, snuggling up to her side. "Kay."

Zayn's POV
I knocked on the door a few times before Mrs. Edwards opened the door. She gave us a smile as she let us in. "How are you, dear? Must be hard without my daughter by your side." She said as she took Charlie in her arms. She pinched the boys cheeks lightly, and gave him kisses all over his face. He gave a small giggle as he eyes his grandmother. "Yes, but we're managing." I reassured her as we headed to the living room. She handed me a cup of tea before continuing to bounce the boy on her lap.
"I always wondered why she chose to be a lounge singer. She could have been so much more. At one point, she was offered to go to a great Arts school in America. She sadly turned down the offer, though. I never understood why. She never gave us a proper reason. All she told us was that it was too far from home, but you and I both know that's not something she'd be worried about. She's thousands of miles in the ocean right now after all."
This was the first time I heard of this. I always thought Perrie didn't want to do college. I wonder why she turned down the offer. "What do you think happened?"
"What else?"Her mother asked as if it was obvious. "Love happened." I flinched. Love? She gave that up because of me? Before I could ask, her mother blurted out. "She was so in love with that wretched girl back then that she threw away her future. She thought the girl would do the same but she didn't and left my daughter in the dust. By the time she went to accept, it was too late. And we couldn't afford to send her there without a scholarship. But I'm glad she met you, though. She got her life back in order when you two got serious."
I choked on my tea, looking at Mrs. Edwards, bewildered. "Did you say she was in love with a girl?"
Mrs. Edwards looked at me confused. "Yes, my daughter was a lesbian for most of her adolescence. I accepted it fine, but my husband was a big arse about it. Didn't she tell you? I don't blame her if she didn't. It was a dark time for her. I'm sure she suppressed those memories a long time ago." She took a sip of her tea before handing my boy back to me. "Her father's okay now. You shouldn't worry too much. We spoke with the doctors and they said that they'll keep a close eye on him for a bit before he can come home. That's what you should tell Perrie, okay?"
I nodded, still feeling a bit worried. A lot of information went through my mind. Why did Perrie not tell me of her homosexual tendencies? Who was the girl? Why was her mom telling me this now? "Before you go, can you tell me who went with her on the trip? She was being very vague about it."
"Our doctor. Her name's Jade Thirlwall."
I don't know if I imagined it, but it looked like she flinched at the mention of the name. "Are you sure?" she asked. I nodded, wondering what was wrong.
"Are you okay?" I asked, genuinely worried. Should I call Perrie?
"Talk to your wife about that woman. I am not getting into this." She said firmly.
...
Each time I take you back
You bring one thousand cracks
And I accept them, like a fool oh
So now what's your excuse
What do we have to lose
Since I'm already losing you
I looked into her eyes as she sang. So much passion were in them, I was ready to cry. I smiled at her. She looked amazing up there. Even though not many were paying attention to her, I was. I'm always paying attention to her.
So hard to face, that I can't feel you anymore
Hard to face, that I can't see you anymore
So walk away, until you're not standing at my door
Turn your face, walk away, and stay
Turn your face
She thanked the crowd who clapped before taking a quick breather. She walked up to me as I handed her a bottle of water. She gave me a peck on the cheek before heading back on stage.
Perrie's phone began to buzz as she began her next song. It was Zayn. I hit answer before walking out of the dining hall. "Hey Zayn. it's Jade. Perrie's at work right now so she can't make it to the phone. You want to leave a message?"
"No. I want to talk to my wife. I can wait." His voice was stern.
"Are you sure? It'll take a while." I asked. "Are you okay?"
"I don't care. I'll wait." He said, ignoring my question.
I sighed before muting the phone. Such a diva. I wonder what got his panties in a bunch.
