But then again have you met an author who isn't? But anyway this chapter has some R- Rated things in it so I suggest you not read if you'll get disturbed by those type of things.

Chapter 11

After I left Grandma’s house I went straight home and cried. Leaving my son with someone else to take care of? It took everything in me not to go back to Kat’s house and get Robbie and tell him “mommy’s going to make everything better” but I know I can’t do that because right now I need to get my finances together. Shaking my head slightly I headed over to my laptop and opened up my email. I almost chocked on what I saw, there were sixteen emails from different magazine companies but the first one before all of those caught my eye.

To: Layla Anderson

From: Damion Black

Subject: Apology

I was hesitant to click on it but I did and read it.

Layla,

You probably don’t want to hear from me, I can understand that. I didn’t call you or anything because I knew you’d probably just ignore me… I’m sorry. Just know, the time we spent together were some of the happiest times of my life, and for a while you were the only thing that kept me smiling… Again I’m sorry. I’ve recommended you to some people, there nice companies, they pay well, and have decent hours. I made sure they would gave you good hours so you could send more time with Robbie. You don’t have to thank me or even respond, just take this as an apology.

                Damion

I honestly didn’t know what think of it, so I closed it and began to go through all the other emails.

They were all great offers, the positions varied, as manager, editor, publisher, but one stood out from the rest, Gossip With Me, I’ve read every issue ever made. It offered Editor in Chief, it offered an amazing amount and hours that were reasonable. I quickly dialed the number and called.

“Ryker Hudson, ” Answered a familiar voice. I couldn’t place it but cleared my throat and spoke. “Hi, I’m Layla Anderson-”

“Layla is that you? From Penn High School?”Questioned Ryker. I still couldn’t remember him. “Yes?” I questioned. “You don’t remember me?” “Umm, am I suppose to?” Forgetting he was my possible boss. “Freshman year we went to homecoming together?” A smile started to form on my face when the memories started to come back. Ryker was your average, nerd, as the kids back then use to call him. He had light freckles that coated his face and chestnut hair that was always combed to perfection. Which was probably why people usually picked on him, he was easy on the eyes but were hidden behind his thick framed reading glasses.

His body type didn’t help his situation at all, he was on the scrawny side and was about 5’6, four inches taller than me at the time, but compared to all the other boys who hit puberty he was just as short as me. They didn’t stuff him in his locker or steal his clothes, they use to shove him around and take turns beating the shit out of him.

So you can just imagine the shock when he asked me to homecoming. I couldn’t help but say yes to those freckles and puppy dog eyes, they were just too cute to turn down. He transferred high schools after that year so I never saw him again.
