Chapter 14-The Turntable

I have never felt this sick in my life, I was doubled over holding my stomach and trying to keep my balance.

"You're gonna be okay," Alex said holding me trying to get me to stop shaking. I was hyperventilating and felt like I was going to die from lack of oxygen. The last few hours did not go as planned. And now standing here I know that my life is about to change. And it feels like it's for the worse.

10 Hours Earlier

"Good day friends," I say as Leslie, Daveed, Anthony, Jazzy, Chris and Pippa walk into the theater. Alex and I had been sitting on the stage just talking and laughing at each other for the last hour and finally other people were arriving.

"Hey kiddo," Anthony says coming over and sitting next to me, giving me a side hug, "Who's this?" He asks, elbowing my side.

"This is my friend Alex," I say to Anthony but also to the rest of the cast standing upstage of us.

"This is Anthony, the annoying one of the cast," I laugh, smiling at Alex and giving Anthony a friendly punch to the arm.

"Oh I'm the annoying one? What about that one time when you-" Anthony is cut off by Jazzy coming over and putting a hand on his mouth.

"Yes and I am the annoying ones girlfriend," she laughs, "I'm Jazzy." Alex smiles back at her and pretty soon the entire cast comes and joins us on stage and we all started talking about random stuff and laughing until Lin comes in.

"Hey, why is everyone having fun without me?" He asks coming and joining the circle. There's no room so he picks me up and sets me down in front of him.

"You know you could've just asked me to move," I laugh, looking back at him.

"Yeah but what's the fun in that method?" He says, I just shake my head and chuckle looking to Alex, who is sitting on the opposite side of the circle. He's smiling at me. I smiled back and we seem to just get lost in each other's eyes, the sounds of Daveed teasing Anthony drowned out by the loudness of his smile.

"Riley? Ri?" Lin says, shaking me. I look up and everyone was standing and looking at me.

"What?" I ask, standing up quickly.

"They're about to start the turntable and we need to get off stage," Lin laughs, "You were zoned out for the past few minutes."

"Oh, sorry I'm just tired," I laugh and the cast all shake their heads smiling, and walk off to go get ready for the show. I look at Alex who looks lost as to where to go next, then an idea pops into my head.

"Hey Lin could I show Alex how the turn table works?" I ask.

"Sure just don't fall and break anything," he says while walking off backstage. I look at Alex and grab his hands pulling him into center stage.

"What are you doing?"

"Just wait," I say, waiting for the tech guys to start the table.

"You guys all ready down there?" The tech guys yell from the tech box on the cat walk.

"Yep!" I yell back and look to Alex who looks nervous. "You ready?" I ask.
