I backed away, shaking. "Wha-at?"

He grinned maliciously. "You see Valerie... This was all part of my plan. Your mother and sister were supposed to protect you. Pity."

He flicked his finger. Vines now binded my hands and feet together. Rotting lilies and tulips lined my mouth as my father continued to speak.

He sauntered around me, staring at me with ridicule and contempt. "You must be wondering; how the hell did I grow bonds on you? I only have the ability to conjure shields! WRONG!"

His icy eyes bore into my skull. "As soon as you released me, I became stronger than before. But you didn't know... Did you? Ah well Caleb did a nice job of hiding this crucial piece of information from you."

I nearly choked on the dead flowers in my mouth. Caleb? As in, Colonel Caleb? He wouldn't-

And then Colonel Caleb and his troops stepped out of the shadows. I almost started bawling. These men were basically the entire royal army.

Caleb bowed. "Master Brent, you have returned. I have taken care of the elf and the mermaid. They aren't going anywhere." He smiled wickedly.

I tugged at the vines, but they wouldn't budge.

My father cupped my chin in his hands. "Trying to escape are we?" He slapped my cheek. "But I've only just begun the story."

He walked slowly around me. "The next time you talk, I'll whip you. Now... Where was I? Ah yes the beginning."

"When you and Annabelle were newly born, I was causing destruction around Treecrest in other lands. Now people started getting suspicious of my 'morning walks' and 'strolls around the garden' so I had to pin the blame on someone else. I was indeed married to your mother but only by arrangement." Brent's eyes became stormy and dark.

"Now a particular girl I was in love with didn't return my affections at that time. Arisa Teldergarde. She was happily married to my bitter rival, Stephen Didolph, and their three kids. I told her that we could have an affair or run away together to be together." A vein in his head was throbbing quicker and quicker with every word he spoke.

"She refused and called me a unfaithful and disgusting person. So I cast a spell on her to make her turn into a witch looking person. And now she is known as Agatha Korvas. Evil witch of all wrongdoings in this world." His smirk was evident now.

"At that time your mother knew. She told me that I was terrible and rude. But she couldn't do anything about it because she truly loved me." He made a sound that the back of his mouth.

Then a white jet of light hit my father in his chest. "And now here we are." My mother stepped out of the shadows.

My father pushed himself off the ground. His head was bleeding and his arms were cut heavily.

My mother showed no remorse as she kicked his chest. Hard.

"YOU. FILTHY. LYING. SON. OF. A. BITCH. I. LOVED. YOU. AND. YOU. STAB. ME. IN. THE. BACK. WITH. ME. OWN. SWORD. I. ABHOR. YOU. NEVER. EVER. SET. FOOT. NEAR. ME. AGAIN." She slapped his face. Guards were now advancing on her. She gave them a delusional look.

"Go ahead ahead and kill me. At least I fought for what was right. Oh yeah and you're going to be dead too." She whistled and about twenty people came running out of the bushes and trees.

She took a dagger and stabbed my father in the heart. She gave him a maniac laugh. "That felt good."
