The next couple of weeks were tough. I decided to come clean to everyone about the phone call I'd had with my dad and it didn't go down to well. Kelly kept saying how she had told us all that 'I was a danger to have around and would be the reason they all got killed'. Rey and Evette just seemed hurt. But Lucas looked at me with what seemed like...disappointment. Almost like he felt personally betrayed by me. It was strange, considering he was one of the people I hadn't grown close to at all.

Then, Will decided we needed to prepare for my dad's arrival, just in case, which meant rigorous training for everyone - including me. I'd never been a particularly sporty person so my fitness sort of didn't exist, but Will was determined to teach me self defense and how to handle a weapon so I wasn't so vulnerable when it came to an attack. I kept telling him how my dad would never hurt me, so it was a waste of time, but he insisted anyway.

After that we just waited. Waited for my dad to show up, his hundred other hunter friends to join him, and fight. I was pretty sure they weren't coming though; it had been a month since I had spoken to my father and I hadn't heard anything from him since. I figured he couldn't find me and had given up trying, and I was at peace with that.

I was in Will's office again, reading up as much as I could on werewolves and their mates, but I couldn't find anything on a werewolf whose mate was human. There must have been a mate somewhere who didn't want to be turned and stayed human whilst living with the pack, I just had to find it. I heard Will's door open, but kept my head buried in the book, determined to find anything to do with human mates.

"You won't find anything you know." I heard someone say, looking up to see Kelly had come into the office and was sitting across from me in the other leather chair.

"And how do you know what I'm looking for exactly?" I replied, closing the book and dropping it to the floor in defeat.

"You want to know if there are any werewolf mates who have stayed human, since you are so set on not letting Will turn you." she stated, folding her arms across her chest and looking at me like she knew everything.

"And what if I am? There has to be a mate somewhere who didn't want to be turned. I can't be the first." I replied before reaching down and picking up a different book, this one labelled 'Werewolf Lore'.

"Well you are." Kelly responded before standing up and heading over to the door, "The first to have lived this long that is."

"Wait, what?" I asked, standing up and stopping her from leaving by standing in her way.

"Any human mates have either been captured by an enemy and killed because they were too weak against the werewolves or have died during child birth." she said, pushing me out of the way and stalking out of the office.

"What!?" I said, running after her.

"Come on, you really think a pathetic human like yourself would be able to successfully give birth to a child that's half wolf? Don't be stupid." She laughed, turning around to look at me. "If you want to spend the rest of your life with Will and with this pack, you're gonna have to suck it up and become one of us, or you're gonna end up getting yourself and Will! You are so--"

"Kelly that's enough." Will's booming voice echoed throughout the hall, interrupting her.

Kelly turned to look at Will, shame spreading across her face; she knew she'd crossed a line.

"Leave." Will commanded, causing Kelly to scurry away down the hall, leaving Will and I alone.

I could feel tears streaming down my cheeks. Was Kelly right? Would I eventually end up killing myself, and Will, if I stayed human? Will came over to me and pulled me into his arms, but didn't say anything. What could he say to me if deep down he knew Kelly was right? I pushed myself away from him, wiping away my tears before looking up at his face.
