Chapter 20

(January 7)

Andrew's POV.

"Mom, seriously, you don't have to. I can borrow dad's." I said. She won't stop looking through the suits that the store have.

"You have to impress your prom date!" Mom said.

I sighed and rolled my eyes. "I don't have a date."

Wish I had...

"Then your prom queen." Mom added.

"How would you know that I would... I mean might be the prom king?" I asked cocking an eyebrow with my hands on my pockets.

"Your the most eligible man in your high school. Ugh, I've seen all the boys in your high school but your friends look good too but they have to release the bad boy stuff and the rest, they look like a man whore."

I cocked an eyebrow. She shoves me a tux on my chest and hangs it on my neck. I turn my head away to hide my shame. Mom backed away to look at my tux and she clapped her hands and giggled.

"That looks good, Andy!" She giggled. I look at her in disgust. I don't...

"Try it on now!" Mom instructed. I grunted and walked in the dressing room.

I walked out of the dressing room and mom saw me. Smiled at me proudly. I look at myself in the mirror. Messing my hair up. Mom's right, I do look eligible.

"Now that's your father." Mom said. She noticed my hair. "But you're gonna have to put on gel. Not wax." She pushed my head down and I walked in the dressing room again to change.

I walked out of the dressing room. Mom grabbed the tux and ran to the cashier. I followed mom but I hide under the rack of clothes because I saw Lena. With Kelly and Cecile, playing with the shades. I got up and followed mom again. She noticed me this time.

"Andrew," Lena called.

Don't get intense, dude...

"Where are you going?" She asked. "Gonna go to the cashier for my mom to pay the tux."

She chuckled. I miss her old laughs. "She's right over there." She pointed at the opposite direction where the cashier is and saw my mom.

Stupid, stupid, stupid!!!

Kelly and Cecile laughed. I walked past them. They were still laughing and I run towards my mom who is already done paying with the tux.

"Where have you been?" Mom asked.

"I-uhh... Checked for clothes." I lie.

"Since when?" Mom asked. I bit my lower lip and started blabbering.

"What was that? You know I don't like the way you mumble." Mom said sternly.

I sigh. "I... There's just something interesting about it!" Mom laughed. She walked away and I sigh and I scratched the back of my head.

"Your funny." The woman said. In the cashier.

"How old are you?" The woman asked. "I'm eighteen."

"You're a fine looking but quiet young." The woman judged.

"I'm an adult. And I do not want to be in a relationship right now. I know what you're doing. Flirting." I said and walked away. For a moment I heard Kelly's whispers to Lena.

"Wow, she got burned."

"Lena, why don't you just forgive him already?"

"Shut up." And that's what I heard. She wants me back... Like I do...

-

(January 13, Prom)

"Hey, Andrew." Cecile said. "Hey,"

She sighs. "Let me spoil you something since I'm the treasurer now," I laugh. "Your gonna be the prom king."

My eyes widened. She gave my shoulder a nudge and smiled at me.

"And the queen will be?" I ask. "Sorry, sir. I don't spoil boys something about the girls."

The music starts and she walks away. I sat down the table and Jason sat down with me. We talked, had some food and listened to the music.

-

"Prom king and Queen everybody!!" Cecile announced. "First off; hope you're having a good time with yourself, with your date or heck even your food," Cecile said. We all laughed. "Okay, so! The prom king is... Raise your glasses up boys if you wanna impress your girlfriend, your ex or your crush," they raised their glasses except for me. "Andrew Garfield!"

Everyone applauded and I walked up the stage and put on my crown. "Get ready for this, Andrew." Cecile whispered as she puts on my crown on me.

"Prom queen. Girls, don't worry if you didn't win this because your date, your boyfriend or your crush that has a crush on you loves you. They think of you are beautiful, perfect and nice. Which you are so there are no sluts here," she laughed and we all laughed. "Drum roll please prom queen!" She instructed. The drum rolled. "For the prom queen tonight here in Radisson Hotel... Lena Robinson!" She announced. Lena? Cecile looked at me and my feet started to tremble.

"Please shine the spotlight on Lena Robinson or Lena, walk up here and claim your crown." Cecile said. A masked girl walked up to the stage. She put down her mask and it revealed Lena. Cecile smiled and she puts the crown on Lena's head.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Lena Robinson and Andrew Garfield are the prom king and queen." Cecile announced. "Walk down and dance." Cecile whispered in our ears.

I took a deep breath and so did Lena. "Shall I take this dance?" I ask politely. I offer her my hand and she just stared at it. Then at me.

"Yes." She answered. The music started playing and it was Let Me Go by Avril Lavigne. She took my hand and we walked down the stage slowly. Her hand feels warm. Just like the first time I touched her. I put my hand on her waist and her hand on my shoulders. We started dancing. We looked at each other in the eyes and she finally spoke, "I missed you."

I hesitate and whisper in her ear. "I missed you too..." She smiles and gives my cheek a kiss. A smile plays on my face. We stare at each other and I pressed my lips onto hers. Everyone applauded so they joined us.

When the music stopped playing, we walked to my car. We stepped inside and just listened to the music.

"You didn't get to see my surprise at the spooky dance." I said.

"Yeah... It always enters my mind every night. Thinking about how you were and how I felt. You were crying and I was too. You were sad and I was angry... I'm sorry..."

I hesitate and looked at her. Her eyes glistening to the moon. "I'm sorry too..."

As the cold wind creeps in the car, I hear teeth chatter. Lena is already embracing herself for warmth. I took off my jacket and gave it to her. She stared at me and took it. She wore it and embraced herself. I look at the stars and she scooted closer to me. Leaned on me. I could tell that she was still cold. I put my arm over her shoulders. She felt cold but now that she's all warmed up by me, she feels comfortable now.

"So, what is the surprise?" Lena asked. I stared at her. "I'm moving to London for my college,"

"You're leaving already? Andrew, stop making me disappointed."

"I'm not. I'm not going to London for my college. Your also gonna come with me. Your parents and my parents talked about this since the spooky dance was announced. They said it would be a surprise for you. For summer, we're going to Big Apple. Just you and me. I prepared that for myself only. And for graduation, my mom said Scotland because it was in her coupon when she won an iPad mini. It's all prepared. I even got the tickets with me." I explained. I showed her the tickets and slid it to be 6 tickets. Lena smiled and kissed me on the cheek. I smiled.

"You know if you hadn't noticed this already that I haven't said this to you in text or in person... I love you."

Yeah, she hasn't said that to me. "I love you too." I started up my engine and pulled away.
