Island sat on the bench, biting into her plain turkey sandwich. She looked around the outside of the school, students eating lunch, students talking among their friends. They had a bright smile on their faces, having their whole lives in front of them and nothing to worry about. Island was jealous of that, she wished that she could be a normal teenager. A girl that only had to worry about a boy liking her or a test next week, something simple but no, she had to worry about her sister surviving, she had to worry about this town, she had to worry about her friends, she had to worry about the hunter, and then she had to worry about Ian and his friends. Island had to worry about everything, she was surprised that she didn't have a break down yet. Island took another bite of the sandwich, relaxing herself. She felt a cold touch on her arm, someone's hands. She had a cold chill down her spine under the warm sun, she looked up and saw the red head, beautiful bright green eyes and freckles. Island couldn't help but smile at her...friend? Lyle sat across from her, still having a smile on her face. She pulled out a salad from her backpack, placing it in front of her.
"You remember me." Island teased, having a bright smile on her face. She was happy that Lyle was here, it was something about her that made her love life again. Lyle chuckled in embarrassment.
"Almost," Lyle teased back, they both looked into each other's eyes. The sun shined into Island's bright hazel eyes. "Which one are you? Brooke or Eva?" Island chuckled. Island laughed with her as Lyle blushed. "Your eyes almost look green, like mine." Lyle took a bite of her salad. Island blinked, looking away. "Don't need to be shy, you have pretty eyes." Lyle winked at her. Island wasn't shy, she didn't want Lyle to look into her eyes. It showed so much truth and her past. The bad times that she had been through.
"Thanks." Island said softly.
"Your welcome." Lyle quickly said. "So, how are you liking the town so far?" Lyle took another bite of her chicken salad. Island shrugged her shoulders.
"It's quiet." Island said honestly.
"What?" Lyle chuckled. "Is it something that you're not used too?" Lyle smirked. Island shook her head, it was nothing like she was used too. A place that was safe for her, and she finally felt like home. She was having second thoughts about leaving, she wanted to stay...stay with someone. "What are you used too? The city?" Lyle kinked her eyebrow.
"Something like that," Island told her. "I'm usually everywhere." Island laughed. "Have you been here your whole life?" Island asked her.
"Nope." Lyle whipped her mouth with a brown napkin, she took a gulp of her water and cleared her throat. "I came here from Brooklyn, New York," Lyle said honestly. Island narrowed her eyebrows in confusion, she had been there before. Matter of fact, she had stayed there a few months.
"Really?" Island asked, not believing her.
"Do you think I'm lying?" Lyle dared Island. Island shook her head, she knew if she said yes, Lyle would never talk to her again.
"No, it's just- You don't sound like you're from New York." Island shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't look like it either." Lyle raised her eyebrows. "I was born there but not raised. My parents raised me here, my parents split up," Lyle raised her shoulders with a sad look on her face. Island looked blankly.
"I'm sorry." Island lied to her. Island didn't think parents splitting up wasn't so bad, parents dying, is something different. Lyle rolled her eyes, she didn't like talking about her parents, and she didn't want to talk about them. "Is that how you met Ian and Nicolas?" Island asked her.
"Yea," Lyle sighed. "They were there for me when my parents weren't." Lyle shrugged her shoulders, she was thankful for them. "Were a weird group, I know." Lyle rolled her eyes with a chuckle.
"Trust me, I think I have you beat." Island laughed, Lyle kinked her eyebrow.
"How?" Lyle asked her.
"We are a group of girls with different personalities. Everything's weird." Island said catching Lyle's glare. Lyle took a deep breath, being bluntly honest.
"I like talking to you," Lyle said honestly, Island didn't know what to say. She just sat there, in utter shock. Lyle didn't know how to explain it. "It's not even talking to you...it's being around you." Lyle smiled.
"Same." Island quickly said to her.
"I know it's weird saying that but-" Lyle tried to quickly say.
"No, it's alright," Island told her. "It's okay." Island corrected herself.
"Well, in that case, what are you doing tomorrow?" Lyle tapped the table.
"Nothing," Island told her.
"Good, because we're going out. I haven't had girl time for a while." Lyle huffed. Island chuckled.
"If you're looking for girl time, I'm not the right one for you. My sister might be." Island laughed to herself.
"Your sister?" Lyle narrowed her eyebrows, wondering who else she was talking about. Lyle was distracted by laughter, she looked behind her and saw Ian walking with Allison. Island stared as well, she couldn't help but make a smirk. They were actually getting close to them. She looked over to her left, seeing Nicolas and Brooke talking as well. Looking into each other's eyes, deeply, only inches away from each other and hitting on each other. "I guess everyone's hanging out, huh?" Lyle smiled, seeing them all connect.
