Ian tapped his pencil on the desk, stopping himself from thinking. He thought it couldn't be real, he was dreaming. He glanced up, trying to catch a peek at the blonde. Her hair was as bright as the sun, gold. She placed her long hair behind her ear and she formed a smile. Her cheeks were high and her eyes were squinted.
"Do you stare at girls like this all the time?" Her smile was even bigger, she looked up at him, waiting for an answer. Ian swallowed, wondering if she was talking to him. Ian smirked, looking away from her.
"You just look different, that's all." Ian shrugged, Evangeline studied the young boy. He was something different, special.
"I feel different," Evangeline told him, continuing the conversation. Ian was surprised that this beautiful girl still wanted to talk to him. Usually, she wouldn't even look at him. Ian crossed his gaze, looking at her blonde hair.
"Why the blonde hair?" Ian asked. Evangeline shrugged her shoulder, knowing most of the questions would be about her.
"Why not?" Evangeline giggled, Ian chuckled a little. He wondered why the sudden change.
"So, I guess since your still talking to me...we're okay with what happened the night you came into town." Ian raised his eyebrows, hoping that she would say yes. He knew it was going to be tough to get closer to them but it was worth the try. Evangeline laughed.
"Not a chance, but," Evangeline tapped him on the shoulder. "Nice try." Evangeline winked, looking back at her work. Ian shook his head.
"You're never going to let that go," Ian suggested. Evangeline cocked her head, trying to think. She was teasing him.
"Probably not." Evangeline squinted her eyes, looking at Ian. Ian felt this slight burn inside his throat and guilt in his chest.
"Great," Ian said sarcastically, he looked away. "Another thing that I have to worry about," Ian said under her breath. Evangeline could hear him clearly.
"Worry about what?" Evangeline asked. Ian looked up at her confused.
"Wh-what?" Ian asked. Evangeline grabbed his attention, looking at him.
"You said you had another thing to worry about, what is it?" Evangeline smiled, somehow, just looking at her smile, it felt like he could trust her. Ian started to open his mouth but something stopped him, a voice in his head.
"School." Ian quickly said to stop the silence. Evangeline chuckled, knowing that's not the truth but she decided to go along with it.
"What? Are you failing?" Evangeline laughed. Ian wasn't failing, he had all A's but he needed to know more about this girl and her friends.
"Uh, yea. Classes are getting pretty hard. I don't think I'm going to be a Junior next year." Ian tried to make his situation seem sad. He looked at Evangeline with sadness and sorrow in his eyes.
"Well, we can't let that happen?" Evangeline cheered. Ian looked around, wondering if anyone was looking at them.
"I guess not." Ian chuckled a little.
"Well..." Evangeline narrowed her eyebrows. "What's your name again?" Evangeline asked him.
"Uh, Ian...Ian Hartsfield." Ian quickly said to her. Evangeline smirked.
"Well, Ian Hartsfield, you've got yourself a tutor." Evangeline held out her hand for him to shake it. Ian hesitated but he thought about the young girl he saw the other night, Iris. And maybe, he could see her.
"Sure." Ian shook her hand, she was firm and her shake was tight. Evangeline let go, putting her things together. The bell rung, students and teachers walked out of their classroom for it was the end of the day. Ian followed behind her. "Uh, I guess I'll see you later." Ian raised his eyebrows. Evangeline shrugged her shoulders, trying to find her friends through the crowded hallway.
"Not tonight," Evangeline told him.
"Wait, wait," Ian said trying to push past students. "What's your name?" Ian asked her. Evangeline stopped, holding her books close to her chest as she turned around to him. She had this bright smile on her face, the sun was shining behind her making her look like an angel.
"Evangeline," Evangeline told him. Ian could barely hear her, he pushed past everyone, trying to keep up but he had lost her through the crowded hallway. He looked around but all he could see were students. He felt a slight tap on his shoulder, he looked up and saw Nicolas and Lyle.
"Seriously, people need to stop having kids." Lyle crossed her arms, looking around the school. Ian continued to look for Evangeline.
"Who are you looking for?" Nicolas asked, annoyed. Ian turned around, feeling a slight breeze. The crowd slowly started to move past, letting the girls through. First, Ian saw Evangeline. She had this bright smile on her face, her floral pink dress was flowing with pink high heels.
"Her." Ian pointed, Nicolas and Lyle tried to look but the crowd was blocking them, then Island was behind Eva, her arms down to her thighs, swinging with each step. Her hair was in a high ponytail, she was wearing a light blue shirt with a black leather jacket, blue jeans, and black combat boots. Nicolas tried to move past the crowd, wanting to see who they were but he couldn't see anyone. Allison was next, following close, she was laughing at something. Long dark brown hair, sweet smile and an innocent look. She looked fragile, a person that would cry if a dog died. Someone would think they could make the world great again. She turned around with a smile on her face, continuing to laugh. Ian swallowed, he wondered who would be next. Hopefully Iris. Brooke showed, smirking look on her face. She flipped her blonde hair. She walked as if she was floating. She didn't look much like her character. Brooke turned to catch Ian in a glance. She winked at him, giving him a slight smile. They both turned, watching the girls leave the school. Nicolas and Lyle huffed, disappointed that they didn't see the girls.
"Ugh. You must be kidding me." Nicolas groaned, rubbing his head.
"Maybe we're not meant to meet them." Lyle shrugged her shoulders. Nicolas scoffs, looking away from her. Ian worried, he noticed it pretty quick. The only person that he wondered and cared about, even if he didn't know it. He turned around, seeing the disappointment in their eyes.
"There were four...of them." Ian swallowed.
"I thought you said there were five of them," Nicolas asked him. Ian looked around, all the guys and girls were whispering to each other about the group, saying how beautiful they were and guessing where they came from.
"There is." Ian answered him.
