Everyday, Phil would write in his diary. He liked to call it his journal because it sounded less childish but he knew what it really was. He hid it in his green pillow case which he knew was a risky hiding place but it was the only place he could think of.
Lately, his diary was getting loads of juicy news. He has just met Dan, the guy who watched and loved AmazingPhil's videos, in real life for the first time. It was perfect and Phil could now easily confirm the feelings he thought he had for Dan. He was in love.
So of course he wrote all of this in the diary. Every detail, every event, every emotion. He wrote about his plans to see Dan again and how when they kissed, he felt something stir inside him that he never felt before.
Phil sighed as he closed his diary. He has just finished jotting down his feelings and the events of the day. He hid it back in his pillow case, grabbed his already packed bag and left the house. He was on his way to catch a train and stay with Dan for the weekend. He couldn't be more excited...

One weekend later...
Phil burst back into his room and collapsed on his bed. Phil's grin was huge. He hasn't stopped smiling the whole weekend. Dan and that effect on him. He was still smirking when he got on the train, causing people to give him weird looks.
Phil immediately felt the need to write down all the wonderful happenings of the weekend in his diary. He reached for his pillow and shook it, expecting the bright red of his diary's cover to fall out. Instead, a letter floated down.
Phil's heart stopped. He felt his breathing hitch. This couldn't be happening. Who in their right mind would steal his diary?
He grabbed the note and immediately recognized his mothers handwriting.
The note read:
Phil,
I was cleaning your room when I found the red notebook. Please call me when you've read this note. I think we need to have a talk.
Love, your mum xxPhil felt his heart drop. His mom had found his diary. This wasn't possible. He couldn't believe it. How could he have been so careless?
The x's at the end of the note calmed his worry that she was angry with him a little bit. But he was still extremely nervous.
His mom had basically just found out about him and Dan's relationship. What if she never let him see Dan again? Phil's mind was going crazy with all the horrible possibilities that could come out of this.
Hands shaking, he pulled his phone out his pocket and dialed his moms number.
The phone rang twice before she picked up.
"Phil?"
"Mum."
"Honey. I'm so sorry I found your diary. I didn't mean to, it just fell out."
"It's a journal."
"What was that?"
"Nothing. Why did you read it? Can't you see it's private?"
"I know, I know. I feel awful. But I'm sort of glad I did read it, as wrong as that was."
"What? Why?"
"How long were you planning to keep Dan a secret? And your feelings for him? Were you planning to tell me anytime soon?"
"Of course I would've told you! I don't think you understand how hard it is to tell someone who thinks they know you so well the truth about who I really am. I don't know how you would've taken it!"
"Oh honey. You should know that I will love you no matter who or what you are. I promise."
"I wish you didn't find out this way..."
"Me too. But at least now I know. I'd love to meet Dan. I want to know everything about this boy you seem to love so much."
"I don't know if we're ready for that..."
"Well, Phil, whenever you are, I will be too."
