He woke up in a cold sweat as he sat up. Murdoc's chest heaving fast and panting as if not after a marathon, but rather in a marathon. Paula immediately snapped her eyes open from the shifting of the covers. She ran a hand along his slightly hairy wrist, rousing his attention. "I-Im fine." Paula sat up and looked in his brownish red eyes, soft and loving only when looking at her. "Clearly your not fine." She said looking him dead in the eye. Murdoc blushed. "Clearly your being whatever." She rolled her eyes at him and frowned. "Clearly your in need of better comebacks."

He let a low humph like that of a small laugh or a noise in acknowledgement. Paula let a low chuckle as she wrapped her arms around him. Murdoc didn't look at her. "Murdooooooc?" He rolled his eyes and smiled. "No." She cupped a hand on his cheek. "Murdy pwease tell me?" Murdoc grumbled. He couldn't even remember until....then it hit him like a Geep to the face. "I uh...just had a bad dream, its silly to have such a reaction I know but..." Paula still stared and merely blinked once, urging him to speak more about the dream. He sighed and rubbed his neck. "Dreamt ya died alright?"

Paula didn't laugh in his face. Paula did not slap him for being a coward like his father would. Paula did not react. Period. She then began to just hug him. Hug him till he did the same and peck his nose.
"Well I'm not leaving you, now sleep," she said.
Murdoc sighed and nodded.

A dreamless night ensued. He woke up to her still there and nose deep in his chest. Her red brown hair tickling his nose in the process. He merely rubbed her back and smiled. There was no way he'd fall back asleep now, so he waited.

She would be up any second now.

She twitched. Perhaps she was dreaming too? Suffering. Just as much as he was. It was fucked up. A game the man downstairs was playing with them. He could have his soul, but he wasn't going to let him dare to even lightly brush hers. So he pulled her out of it.

Rather than look annoyed she was greatful for the favor. She smiled. Then pretended it never happened, or she forgot it.

Either way it works.

Then they slept in.
