The time of year that Alayna always dreaded was here.

It was spring. Which meant dancing, parties, and the crowning of the spring queen.

Not to mention more teasing.

Her father said it was because they were jealous which was exactly the reason, but when ever Alayna told them that, they just fake laughed, and called her an ugly little squirt.

This year she decided to try her luck on going, but she needed a disguise. She found an old wig of her mothers, cleaned and groomed it, and found one of her mothers old ball gowns. It fit perfectly.

The night of the Spring Dance was here. The crops had been collected, their finest pig had been slaughtered (for food), and all the girls had finished making their dresses, and flower wreathes. The dance began with a traditional French country dance, and right in the middle of it, a mysterious blonde haired green eyed girl appeared. No one knew who she was, although Maria has a hunch...

Alayna sat on one of the stools at the side of the dancing floor. The venue of the dance was  a temporary tent that had been put up I the middle of the town square, and it wasn't half bad, but it wasn't as good as the ballrooms Alayna had seen at home. She was gazing at Maria, who was a graceful little butterfly dancing next her beau, Jon. She watched as they danced, and focused on Jon's beautiful blue eyes, as they twinkled like a pair of diamonds in the candlelight. "Excuse me may I have this dance?" A voice startled her, and she jumped in her seat. "Oh my I didn't mean to frighten you!" She turned to see who the voice belonged to, and saw none other than Michael Beaumont, the Mayors son. Alayna nodded, taking his hand, and they waltzed across the dusty brick floor (which was actually the brick road in the town square). Alayna was having the time of her life, when her magical moment was interrupted by the loud shouting of the mayor. The music and laughter died down, and the mayor continued.

"Tonight as we celebrate the harvest, We will crown the Harvest King and Queen. And the lucky couple are..." He paused for dramatic effect. "Michael and the mysterious blonde girl!"

Alayna couldn't believe it. She had won something, people were actually clapping for her instead of slapping her. She held tight onto Michael's hand, and he smiled at her, understanding that she was nervous.

But just as she was receiving the flower tiara, a voice interrupted her moment of triumph.

"Stop!"

Alayna turned to see Maria, smirking evilly.

"I know who you are Alayna."

Hi guys! What do you think? I know it sounds more like a high school prom, but I got the whole harvest queen idea from the ballet 'Giselle'. I hope your enjoying it!

Luv Lillian!
