He stepped forward, his claws shining in the candle light. He reached his paw closer to Alayna's chest where her heart was. Her body shivered, because of the cold and because she was scared. He retracted his claws and laughed in mockery, making Alayna go red in the face. As he put his paw behind Alayna's back to lead her to her room. She shook him off, muttering under her breath, "Jerk". He heard her, but decided to be the better person and ignore. She made him so angry, and his (invisible) servants often told him off for his temper.

He unlocked the door of Alayna's room, and watched her reaction to see if she was surprised, but she just looked around and slammed the door in his face. Rude much.

Alayna flopped on her bed, the softness of the feather mattress cushioning her fall as tears began to flow down her face. Sobs rose up in her throat, and she cried, balling her fists up and punching the mattress.

"Careful if you keep doing that you might break the mattress."

Alayna turned around to see... nothing.

"Over here." Said the thing, as if it could read minds.

She turned to the vanity, to see a couple of bows and ribbons floating in the air.

"That's right, over here. My name is Armoire! I'm your wardrobe mistress." Even though Alayna couldn't see Armoire's face, she could tell by her voice dropping that she was sad.

"At least I was..." She held in a sob, and adjusted a bow. "Now I just look after whoever resides in this room."

Alayna looked at the bunch of ribbons and bows, puzzled. "Were there people before me?"

"Yes."

"What happened to them?"

"Well I'm not sure I should be telling you..."

Alayna gave her puppy dog eyes, and Armoire sighed, looking as if she was about to give in, but she lifted her invisible chin, and said a firm,

"No. Your not allowed to know."

Alayna's face creased up in anger, but softened as she accepted that she wasn't allowed to know.

The silence was broken by another invisible servant reminded Armoire that the bath was full, and Armoire lead Alayna into the lavish bathroom.

Armoire turned to Alayna, expecting to see surprise on her face, but instead was surprised by the expression on Alayna's face.

Her face was showing an expression of familiarity, as if she had seen it before, as if she remembered the good times.

Armoire wondered if she was rich before she came here. But she came here in peasant clothing, so she couldn't be.

Armoire pushed the thought to the back of her mind as she watched Alayna dipped her hand into the tub, and waved it about, as the steam rose up from the steamy water.

Armoire left the room, closing the door behind her.

Alayna peeled the damp skirt, blouse, cummerbund and petticoats off her equally damp skin, and hopped into the bath, the water consuming her body.

She reached for the soap on the side of the bath, and smelled it, savouring the rose scent.

Steam columns rose from the bath, which helped Alayna with her coughing and her cold.

After her luxurious bath, she wrapped herself in a fluffy white towel, and rubbed it all over her body, drying it almost completely, before tying it around her body.

She walked out of the steamy on sweat, and found a fresh clean nightie, and silk dressing gown.

After putting them on, Alayna dived under the covers, and fell almost completely asleep.

Before the shaking of the entire castle woke her up, as a thunderous roar came from the west of the castle.
