Alayna walked into the ballroom and looked around in awe. The chandelier was huge, but didn't even fill the whole roof, which showed how big the actual ballroom was. It was clean spotless, which was weird because it was the only room apart from hers that was free of cobwebs and grime.

A deep and rough cough startled her and she spun around to see the Beast, whose face was a mix of surprise and concern. He rushed towards her, and encircled his furry arms around her.

"Are you okay?"

He realized what he was doing and backed away, and and and awkwardly put his hands behind his back, and if he had skin instead of fur he would be blushing.  Alayna gathered up all her courage, and walked towards the beast.

"Im fine, just startled, but if this is a ball, we should be dancing." She grabbed his paw and led him to the center, and they began to dance.

Alayna had never felt this feeling before. He was a fabulous dancer, pirouetting and twirling her around the room. The wind blew through her hair, and the twirling around the room made her skirt  expand and spin around her. It was exhilarating, and nothing at all like the dances she always danced in the village, soon they danced their way onto the balcony, and collapsed onto the plush couch behind them, laughing.

"Ive never danced like that before!" Alayna giggled and looked off into the distance, in the direction of the village, where she could see the fairy lights and a trail of torches, that told Alayna that the spring festival was still going.

The beast broke the silence, by saying something about the village.

"I used to visit the village all the time as a child."

Alayna stared over at the village, and thought about her father, wondering what he was doing at this moment. This thought made her tear up a little, and soon fresh tears were flowing down her face.

The beast saw this, and knew in his heart that it was the right thing to do, although his chest tightened at the thought of it.

"You can go."

Alayna couldn't believe what she just heard.

"Wha- I mean, pardon?"

"You can go, go back to your father"

Alayna was ecstatic. she hugged the beast, and ran out of the ballroom, and down the stairs into her room, where a trunk of clothes was waiting for her. Her old clothes were laid out, and she hurriedly got changed into them.

When she was done, the trunk lifted up by itself, and floated out of the room. She stood up and darted after it, following it down stairs and hallways. It led to a carriage with invisible horses, and the door opened, and she hopped in.

The carriage went off down the road.

The last thing Alayna heard, was the roar of a heart broken beast.
