The sun began to rise creating a kaleidoscope of colors. Reds, yellows, oranges and pinks were decorating the sky, as the moon and stars began to fade away, and were replaced slowly but surely by the bright orange sun.
Alayna sat on the balcony, her elbows pressed against the railing. She admired the sunrise, and breathed in the crisp, cool morning air. From her balcony she could see everything, the lush green clump of trees and bushes that were the woods, and on the horizon, a clump of houses and a church spire that was the village. Alayna scowled, remembering her time there. That was all over. She was here till she died. She shuddered just thinking about it. A cool breeze swirled around her, making her shiver, so she pulled her sheer silk dressing gown tighter around her, as if it could make her warmer. It didn't have any affect on her, and all she wished she could have right now was a lounge, and a fur throw.
She walked into her boudoir, warmth engulfing her cold and tired body. Diving under the covers, she snuggled against the feather pillows, and tried to sleep. She stared at the canopy at the top of her bed, and stayed there waiting for sleep to capture her mind. But it never came. Instead she was interrupted by Armoire.
She held a beautiful ballgown in front of her. It was a gorgeous cream colour, made of silk , with a delicate design on the front, and it flared out on the sleeves
(A/N a.k.a. the dress on the front cover)
Alayna was confused.
"What is this for?"
Armoire placed the bed neatly on the bed, doing it slowly as not to crease the dress.
"Its yours. For the ball, tonight."
Alayna was even more confused.
"Ummmm..... How did you make the dress so quickly? Or is it another old dress?"
She studied the dress. It didn't look old, in fact it looked like something Marie would wear to a party, except less bright and colorful.
"Nope, this was made specifically for you, and yes its only been about a day, but we live in a magical castle!"
Alayna giggled, and ran to the bathroom, as Aromire shooed her in there. An invisible maid brought a basin of hot water, and poured it in to the bath, and sprinkled rose petals in the water, releasing a sweet aroma that calmed Alayna as soon as she immersed her body in the water. Armoire and the maid pampered her, getting her ready for the ball.
She was dried, and the undergarments and ballgown were placed on her and her hair was styled, not in the usual white wig and feathers, but preferred a high bun with a lock of hair perfectly placed on her forehead.
A little bit of rouge was swiped onto her lips, and her cheeks were pinched to give her pale face some color. Some delicate heeled slippers were slipped onto her feet.
She was ready to go.
And it took her a whole day to get ready...
