A Not So New Face (Chp. 8)

*Yawn* I woke up stretching and thinking about yesterday. The fire, the wolves, the other princes, Eleanor, Perrie. Another thought clicked into my head. Today I have to go on a date with Liam. Everything is fine now. No werewolves or fires. At the moment that is. After fulfilling my morning duties such as taking a bath and brushing my teeth, I set out to pick out an outfit. I ended up choosing a simple lilac collared and laced dress with white heels. The dress reached my knees. With a white bow, I fixed my hair into a half pony tail with a few side bangs sticking out and used a curling iron to make my hair a bit more wavy. I decided to put only a little makeup so just some light pink lipstick that matched my lips and mascara. I walked out into the hallway to find Eleanor and Perrie walking together to breakfast looking gorgeous as usual. I said, "Hey girls," and waved. They waved back and Perrie said, "Why don't you join us. We are on our way to breakfast."

I nodded and walked beside her. On our way, we talked about their fiancés, the werewolves, the fire, and my ninja skills. I was really becoming best friends with Perrie and even closer than ever with Eleanor. They are both lovely and I'm sure their fiancés are lovely as they say they are, too. When we reached the dining area, the boys looked up from their untouched meals and smiled at us. I guess they waited for us before eating which is unusual because they are always hungry......and not only for food that is. I sat down in between Niall and Eleanor. Perrie sat next to Zayn who was across from Niall. "You look lovely today," Liam commented. The boys agreed and I thanked them. All of us began to eat as footsteps were heard. I could tell the boys could hear it too. I reluctantly paused from eating my delicious waffles. The footsteps were getting closer, but I wasn't sure whether to be afraid or happy. A familiar face came walking in and I didn't how to react while the boys, Eleanor, and Perrie waved at him happily.

I however was completely angry, frustrated, outraged and I could feel my eyes change a different color. I stood up slamming my hand against the table, walked towards him, and slapped him right across the face with no regret. I heard gasps, but decided to ignore it. "You don't know how long I've been waiting to do that," I told my father. You read that right. My FATHER. After all these years, how dare he show up now. Mother wept for him and I was her only comfort. None of my friends or other family members knew about that what so ever. "I can explain..." he started. I stopped him mid-sentence by sending daggers and rude glares at him. Without another word to each other, I stormed out of the room, purposely nudging his shoulders roughly making him slightly flinch as a tear escaped my eye.  When I turned a corner, I ran to my room. I opened the door and slammed it shut, jumping onto my bed, hugging my pillow as I continued crying quietly to myself.

Mr. Jones POV (Keri's father)

I was ashamed. Scarred for life knowing the guilt I have kept in me for the past few years. Keri is beautiful. She looks almost like Torrey (Mrs. Jones; Keri's mother). I felt a bit upset and angry that my own little girl slapped me, but I know it was fair and that I deserved it. I wish I visited her and Torrey after the invasion. Oh, if only she knew..."What was THAT about?" Niall asked me, standing up, putting emphasis on 'that.' I bit my lip. Should I tell them? But what if they tell Keri? Questions shot into my head. When I wasn't answering their question, the boys bombarded me with questions. "Why aren't you answering me Ian?" "How does Keri know you?" "I...Uh Keri..." I started talking, but it was useless because I was being interrupted by too many questions. "How do YOU KNOW KERI?!?" "Have you DONE SOMETHING TO HER?!?!" The questions started getting harsher. "Why DID SHE SLAP YOU?!?!?!?!?"

"SHUT UP ALL OF YOU!!!! I'VE BEEN TRYING TO TALK, BUT YOU WON'T LET ME!!!!!!" I screeched out impatiently. The boys calmed down a bit ,obviously surprised by my outburst, and sat in their seat again waiting for me to talk. "Keri is my daughter. I left her and my wife before the invasion to help you as your commander in planning the invasion. Honestly, I didn't want to leave them, but I had no choice." They all looked at me, their eyes wide and their mouths open in shock. I needed to calm myself down a bit as well so I stood up and walked to my room, taking a goblet of deer blood with me. On the way to my room, I heard Keri sniffling which meant she had been crying. I fought the urge to comfort her because I knew as much as I had caused this, I can't fix it. Not for now at least. She needs time and I need to give her time to think about everything. Hopefully, she'll feel better by lunchtime so that she can go with Liam on his extravagantly planned date.

Keri's POV

I stopped crying and wiped my eyes. Fortunately my makeup is water-proof. I got my blanket to cover my legs while I sat up on the bed. The door opened and thankfully only the boys, Eleanor, and Perrie came in. No father. Liam came in last with a tray of my leftover breakfast. I mouthed a 'thank you' towards him and he mouthed 'you're welcome' back. He walked towards me and gave me the tray. I started to eat again and looked up to see worried faces. I swallowed my thoroughly chewed food and said, "Is there something wrong?" "Uhhh...yeah...sort of?" Liam responded, the end of his statement coming out more like a question. I gave him this look as to say 'go on.' Liam sighed and continued on saying, "You're eyes...they were somehow different from anything the boys have seen. They weren't red nor pitch black. They turned purple. A purple mixed with magenta and some green to be specific." I furrowed my eyebrows confused and asked "Is there something wrong with purple eyes?"

The boys gave worried looks at each other, but when Louis nodded, tons of weight lifted off their shoulders. "Vampires with purple eyes are known for having extra powers," Louis explained, "More powers than the ones they are gifted with at birth. Sometimes it's completely out of randomness. You could be a red-eyed vampire and then all of a sudden they turn purple and you're given even more random powers. Most are feared because they have used their powers for evil. I know you would never even think of doing something like that, but could you promise us that you'll never use your powers for pure evil?" I nodded and said, "Promise is a big word, but I'm a big kid," they smiled, "I promise I will never use my powers for evil, but only when it is truly needed." The boys seemed to be debating about the second part of my promise, but nodded anyway. The door burst open and my depressed looking father came in saying, "I'm sorry."
