The drive back to my new home was easier. I had spoken to my aunt and had a better understanding of some events that led up to this point. We'd have to discuss it in detail one day, she was the last of my family and I want everything to be understood between us. I thought back on everything we had discussed; Marley and more importantly the death of my parents.

As we walked into the house that evening my mood was sombre and Gabriel had picked up on it. The boys were put to bed and I had checked up on them. They were smiling sweetly, obviously exhausted. I wondered what Heather had done to keep them occupied.

Sitting beside me in my favorite spot, Gabriel had picked up on my quietness. "What's wrong mi amor? Are you angry at the way I reacted to that she-wolf?", he asked. I laughed, I hadn't actually thanked him for defending me. I shook my head, "Not at all, I was meaning to thank you actually". Pulling me closer to him he pushed on, "Then what is it mi amor?". I looked at him, crossing my legs and turned to face him. "How did my parents die? I mean, I know Isaac murdered them, I think what I am asking is, why? What was his reasoning behind it?".

Gabriel sighed, looking out of the window and began; "Your mother was a brilliant woman. Your father was killed months before her in a time of turmoil between werewolves and vampires. She approached the Covenant and requested that Isaac be punished as he had killed your father after the treaty had been signed. From that day your mother became a royal advisor for both races. Isaac was imprisoned but was freed 5 years ago by his loyal followers and essentially escaped and fell off our radar. He returned, seeking his revenge on her and killed her in your apartment. He left a robe worn by Covenant members hanging from the window he had broken through, trying to frame the Covenant for his deeds".

I understood now. He wanted to start a war between or races as he blamed them for his imprisonment. That however did not answer my main questions; why was he after me and what were we going to do about it. Gabriel understood my concern; "Sleep for now mi amor. We will start your training first thing in the morning". I nodded my head but it did not put my mind at ease, all I could think about was Noah and Masons safety, I did not want them caught up in all of this, and by them being my twin siblings they were next in line to the Alpha King title.

The next two weeks had flown by fairly quickly. My mornings consisted of two hours of pack lessons with Lola after breakfast, Mason and Noah sat by our feet and played with their favorite toys. Although they were not required to listen, I thought it be best that they were surrounded by the new concepts too. We had gone through the shifting and mating processes, which I grasped quite easily. This morning we were concentrating on pack hierarchies and duties.

Within the pack there was the Alpha and his Luna. Their Beta's who were second in command if the Alpha and Luna were to leave the pack land borders. There were the Advisors or Gamma's, who would aid the Alpha, Luna and Beta's in strategic decisions in terms of pack coordination and warfare.

The pack itself was split into families that had either grouped together when the pack was formed years before, or with families who had requested to join. Either by moving into the region or if they had requested asylum from other packs and their Alphas. All of these families were reviewed by the Delta's, who were the training instructors and pack warrior facilitators. Gabriel had never mentioned who his Delta's were, with the twins being the Gamma's, I had always wondered who held that position. Shaking the thought from my mind I focused and on today's topic.

Elders made up the council within the highest ranking werewolf pack, the pack ruled by the Alpha King. Each of these elders oversaw the management of a pack and its Alpha. As it stood, there were over 50 elders within the pack who reported into Gabriel. And last, but not at all least, were the pack doctors. Each pack had a group of doctors, who were trained medical surgeons. However, they specialized in werewolf anatomy. Something that Lola would focus on in more depth as I would one day be a pack doctor once I graduated with my medical degree.
