BOUND TO THE ALPHA KING

Chapter 16

"In every life, this one or the next, I would choose you. I would always choose you"

The vampire that stood before me was merely a child, a teenager at the most. He was terrified beyond recognition and with all of the raging Werewolves surrounding him, I could only imagine his state of mind. "Stand down. All of you..." I said calmly. Gabriel moved to grab my hand to hold me in my position but I had a feeling that scaring him was not helping us. "Can someone get him something to eat? I mean drink? You know what I mean damnit!", I said irritated at the situation I found myself in. This was the most action I have had in weeks I had to admit.

I placed my hand on Gabriel's chest, "Gabriel, I need to do this okay? And besides I can knock him on his ass if I really need to", I said smiling to myself. He didn't look too convinced but let me edge closer to the boy.

"What is your name?" I said calmly. He looked from me to Gabriel and to the plethora of faces completely focused on him. I nodded my head at him, yet he seemed quite unsure. "No harm will come to you, you have my word as Luna and Queen". At the declaration of my title he seemed to physically relax. 
"My name is James your majesty". This was working! It was actually working. I took a few more steps closer to him. "Please put him down. If he runs, just catch him... it's that simple!" I was losing my patience. My guards let go of the steel grip they had on the boy and he kneaded his arms where they held him.

"James, my name is Mia and this is my mate Gabriel. What are you doing on our territory unannounced?". He bowed his head in respect to both of us, and turning to Gabriel I could see that he too was taken a back. He looked to the ground as he twisted and turned his fingers within his hands. "I was sent here your majesty's. I am not sure who the order came from, but I was turned a few nights ago. I was told that I would be doing the vampire race a great service...". James trailed off. "What service James? To kill us?", I questioned, my heart skipping a few beats. He shook his head at me. "No ma'am. To be a sacrifice".

Gabriel let out a feral growl and James visibly shook. I grabbed Gabriel quickly, assuming that he would attack the young boy in front of me. "This boy is an infant! An innocent and Isaac is trying to start a war! Mia - if we had attacked and or killed him on our land we would have been responsible for starting the war Isaac so desperately wants!" Gabriel was pacing, shouting at the top of his lungs. "Boy. What were you doing before we found you in that tree?" Reign moved forward. I wanted to protect the boy in front of me, shield him from all of this. "Let him answer Mia, it's important". Gabriel said to me as he held on to my waist, trying to calm himself.

"I saw the twin boys with their dog. They smelt like the best thing I have ever come across before. I was stalking them, I will admit. But something came over me, like a beacon of warning. It broke my concentration and I stopped inhaling and climbed into the tree. I think it was you ma'am... there's something about you your majesty. Your presence, your not as powerful as your mate, however, you shine bright, like a fire that's burned for centuries...", James broke off, still deep in thought. What the hell was he talking about?! Me? I internally laughed at the thought! It was enough that I had finally come to grips with my title as Gabriel's mate and future Queen.

"You're all dismissed. James, I'd like you to stay in the manor with us. You may prove useful. But if you are lying... I will slaughter you where you stand". Gabriel retorted. "And can someone listen to your Luna and feed him! He's about to wither away!". he growled, completely irritated at the events that had unfolded.

"I've tried to eat human food sir, it just all comes back up". James said quietly. I couldn't believe this. He had no idea what he was capable of or what it meant to be a vampire. Gabriel held the bridge of his nose and inhaled slowly. I look the liberty of explaining to this young creature that he would forever be a slave to the night.
