The Faerie Ball

All the fays gathered round
Clothed in petals of every hue
Flared roses, frilly carnations
Sprinkled with stardust and dew

They danced and celebrated
To the songs of chirp and tweet
And feasted on ant-plunder,
Honey and all things sweet

Ignoring every hindrance
The party lasted long, for hours
No force could ever stop them
Not even the stormy showers

But with the moon veiled in clouds
And the howling of the hound
Having forgotten their rationale,
they broke it off without a sound
