“Why the hell did you do that?” I smacked his shoulder as I walked up to him, cuffs around his wrists. I had just gotten to the police station after being checked out at the hospital. He only smirked and gave a slight shrug. He cracked a grin and my shoulders slumped as I smiled slightly. I wrapped my arms around his torso and gave him a tight hug. “Thank you,”

“No problem,” His raspy voice assured me. I pulled my arms back and shook my head, giving a slight laugh.

“Your mom is going to kill you,” I laughed, looking back up to him. His eyes widened a bit as realization hit him.

“Shit.” He quietly cursed, stamping his foot the slightest bit. As if on cue, an irritated looking Mrs. Cole stomped through the police office doors, her heels clacking as she made her way to the both of us.

“Blane Ryder Cole!” She hissed, smacking the upside of his head. “I thought maybe we were over this! This is absolutely ridiculous.”

“Mom, I-“ He attempted to speak up, but she continued with her rant.

“Son, this is the end, I can’t keep picking you up at police stations and having you arrested. I’m not giving you another pass, Blane! I love you, but this has began to become an annual thing!”

“It’s not-“ He tried again, only to be cut off once more.

“Don’t try to argue with me! This is become to be a little bit of bullshit, and you and I both know it. I can’t get you out of this one, son.” She steamed.

“Mrs. Cole…” I spoke softly, attempting to grab her attention. In success, she turned to me, softening her gaze a little bit. “You don’t know what happened…I was almost raped and when Blane heard what happened, he went and beat the guy up. He was only trying to protect me. He was the good guy in this situation, I promise,”

“Oh…oh my gosh, are you okay sweetheart? Does Gigi know? Does your mother know? I’ll call them immediately…” She rambled as her phone was pulled from her purse.

“No, I’m fine, really,” I assured her, pushing her hand down that contained her phone.

“Are you sure?” She asked and I nodded. “Okay, well, Blane I’m sorry for jumping to conclusions. Thank you for protecting Indiana.” He cleared his throat and nodded, looking accomplished.

“Mrs. Cole?” A police officer spoke as he waltzed up to us, hands propped up on his waist.

“Yes, sir?” Her professional voice was in use as she talked.

“What do you want to do about your son?” He pointed his finger to Blane, standing there in handcuffs.

“I want you to let him go, no charge.” She pursed her lips and crossed her arms over her chest with a bit of sass.

“I’m afraid we can’t do that, he committed a crime,” The officer, supposedly “Darrel” according to his nametag, stated.

“No, he was protecting Indiana here. If you remember, he assaulted the man that tried to rape her. I think that’s defense.” She reasoned.

“Well, unless she’s his girlfriend, he had no right to do that,” He peered his eyes at her. She raised her eyebrows before speaking once more.
