Jacqui's Story

Chapter 16

Leo's Pov

I open my eyes and look over to see Mahalia and Jacqui standing at the door.

I make an effort to show a small smile even though the pain is unbearable.

I thought I was fine until they showed me how bad my dad was treating me.

I knew I had something wrong with my ribs.

I have three broken ribs, a dislocated shoulder, a nasty bullet wound to my leg and a lot of bruises and cuts.

Mahalia walks over to me and holds my hand.

"Hey, how are you holding up?"

I shrug my shoulders but wince at the pain of my shoulder.

"I guess I'm okay. My ribs hurt a lot when I laugh and my shoulder, as you noticed before, hurts a lot with any movement, but other than that I'm doing okay. How are you doing?"

She takes a breath before speaking.

"I'm doing good, it's you that I'm worried about though. Are you sure you're okay? You don't seem like it,"

I nod my head again because I didn't have a good answer. I'm not good, but I didn't want to say anything so I nodded my head.

"Okay, as long as you're okay, then I'll leave you to it. I better let Jacqui talk to you,"

She leans over and hugs me very carefully but gently then she walks over to Jacqui and she stands at the door.

Jacqui slowly walks over to me and hugs me gently and I blush.

"How are you doing?"

"Yeah I'm alright. How are you? You were the one that was kidnapped,"

She laughs but suddenly stops.

"Hmm, yeah I'm good. But if it weren't for you, I don't think I would be here today, and I definitely would be hurt way more than what I am now, so thank you,"

She leans over and kisses my cheek and of course I blush.

"Well, you're worth it Jacqui, I wouldn't just leave you there. Especially knowing what he is capable of. I think I may be falling for you Jacqui,"

She looks down at her feet.

She looks up at me and I see tears in her eyes.

I frown.

"Leo, I think I may be falling for you too, but I have a boyfriend and we have been together for 8 months, almost 9. And I don't want to break his heart after all he as been through and me as well-"

I nod my head but look down.

"I understand, you want to still be with Zach or whatever his name is-"

"Leo, I hadn't finished talking. As I was saying, I don't want to break his heart, but I have found that I have more feelings for you than for him, and the second I see him I'm going to break up with him because, Leo I want to be with you,"

I notice my change in emotion as soon as she says those last few words.

I look up at her and smile so that my smile is from ear to ear.

She sees my smile and kisses my cheek again before hugging me.

It hurt a bit when she hugged me but I wasnt thinking about the pain. I was memorizing those last few words Jacqui said to me.

Leo, I want to be with you.

I couldn't get the grin off my face. I was so happy.

Jacqui let go of me and walked away after saying a quick goodbye. I smiled as she slowly walked to Mahalia and walked out of the room.

But not before I see this girl death glare Jacqui and run into my room.

Oh boy, here we go.

"Baby, are you okay? I heard about what happened and I came as soon I could because that is what you do for your boyfriend isn't it?"

I sigh and look down while shaking my head.

"Belinda we are not dating!!! Just because I slept with you once doesn't mean we are together,"

"But I thought we had something special,"

Belinda pouted and I saw tears leaving her eyes.

"I don't care about you and I never did. So just leave,"

I could hear the venom in my voice but I didn't care about her.

"But-"

"Leave!!!"

She looks at me once before looking down at the ground and walking out of the room.

Before she walked out, she turned around back to face me.

"I still love you,"

I sigh and shake my head while looking down.

"Well I don't love you so just leave me alone,"

She starts to sob as she runs out of the room.

Finally, some peace and quiet without her dragging herself along with me.
