The Chosen One

Chapter 4

She looked so different. Her hair was tied up in a smooth ponytail, not frizzed up and messy like it usually was. She no longer looked like a scared mouse but like a confident fighter. Her top had short sleeves so you could see the muscles on her arms, she normally wore baggy clothes so I never noticed. Someone coughed behind me. 

"Sorry to interrupt your little reunion, but we need to get moving."

There was another door I didn't notice before because it was the same colour as the walls. They keyed in a password and the door hissed open.

There were several vehicles parked in a small parking lot. I have never seen any of them before. One of them was a black motorbike with the words "Black Beast" on the side. My bestie, Sapphire, walked over to it and hopped on. It matched her perfectly.

The next was a flat board with blue stripes across it. Corey walked over and flicked it with his foot. It turned on and started hovering above the ground. He jumped onto it, balancing perfectly.

"So, do you want to ride with Corey or Sapphire?"

I turned to see Ms. Calison touch a button on her boots. The lifted off the ground. Rocket boots. Cool.

I walked over to Sapphire and hopped on her motorbike. The roof then opened up and I could see the starry night sky.

The ground lifted and started pushing us up. Soon we were in the middle of a park.

"Hang on tight!" Sapphire yelled at me as we sped off into the night.

We arrived at a large, fancy mansion. Some people in black suits and sunglasses came and took the vehicles.

Someone opened the door for us as we walked into the mansion.

The inside was posh and expensive. They took us into a large room where there was a bunch of comfy seats and couches.

"Please, take a seat" an old man in front of us gestured to the couch. I went and sat down on a fluffy couch and Corey sat down beside me. Sapphire went and sat on a beanbag.

"As you all know, there have been many more sightings of demons recently so we have taken The Chosen One just to be safe."

They must have noticed my puzzled face because Ms. Calison started to explain.

"There is a magical world next to ours. It is full of magical beings like elves, demons, unicorns, and dragons. A long time ago they lived in peace and harmony. Then one day, the King of Smol decided to declare war on Elfendire.

The war raged on for many years, neither side winning or losing. Many died and many lost family members. Homes were torn apart and burnt down. Everyone was forced to flee.

But just as a witch was fleeing her home, she turned back and uttered a strong spell. The spell combined the two kingdoms and made it one, Elfensmol. The problem was that no one could rule the kingdom. Everyone who tried would go up in flames and turn to ash.

Without a ruler, Elfensmol fell apart. Crime and thievery were everywhere and people started slave trading.

Then the Chosen Ones appeared. They were descendants of the witch that cast the spell. They didn't go up in flames like the others did, so one of them, Solvaia, placed herself on the throne and ruled for six days. On the seventh day, however, she was found drowned in the fountain.

Many other Chosen Ones tried to rule after her, but on their seventh day, they all died mysteriously. No one knew what was wrong.

Suddenly a powerful seer had a vision of the future. She saw that only one special Chosen One could rule. Everyone began looking for that special one.

But one day, The Dark Queen had enough. She seized the throne and made herself queen. No one knew why she didn't die. Most people think that she is using dark magic to keep herself alive. Some think that she is not dying because her soul is already dead.

We are the Hunters, a group looking for the Chosen One. We have all trained since we were toddlers. And we all have different magic.

Saph is an elemental and controls the Shadows. Knows her way around weapons, especially pointy or sharp ones." I suddenly noticed the knives strapped to her waist.

"Corey is a shapeshifter and can bend water. Also trained very well in martial arts." He turned and winked at me.

"I am a bomb expert and also a hacker. I have mind powers and can control metal with thought."

A metal rod in the corner floated up and molded itself into a knife. The knife whizzed past me and stabbed into the wall.

"Don't worry, she looks scary on the outside but on the inside she's just a big softie." whispered Corey behind me.

"It's late, you guys should go to bed." The old man opened the door. We went out in a single file and as I passed him, he told me his name was Enol.
