A Good Mistake

Going to The Clearing was a mistake. It wasn't bad...for the first half at least. But I couldn't- I shouldn't have gone. I should have known. And when I heard Truth or Dare I couldn't breathe. Next thing I know I'm running away, old images flashing across my vision.

Him smiling. The- the cold. And Cody.

Now I was walking in the dark forest, trying to find my way to the road.
I could hear his voice, feel his grip on me. I squeezed my eyes closed, as if I could push away the thought.  Yes, it was a mistake to go.
Yes, I liked some of it, but it was still a mistake.

A good mistake, I finally thought, settling the war going on in my head. Of course Walker would want an explanation as of why I ditched him, but he had other friends.

Soon enough I could hear the pounding footsteps behind me, but I knew they weren't really there. I heard a whisper, calling my name, in my ear. A hand on my shoulder. I spun around in a circle, my eyes wide. No one was there. He would haunt me forever, his memory in my head would be the worst of it.

"No, no, no, no..."

I ran through the blur of trees, running fast.
Until I tripped. I could feel a sting in my leg and a burning sensation on both of my palms as I half fell on to a tree, half onto the ground. I ignored the pain, which I barely felt, and kept running, running away from him. Just running, faster and faster, farther and farther.

His laugh. I picked up my pace.

His cheer as I cried out. Quicker.

"No!" I cried.

Him. I let out a blood curling scream.
Finally, I stopped. I threw my hands over my ears, trying to tune out his voice. His lies.
I fell to my knees, dropping to the Earth, my legs hurt from running, my voice raw from the screams and shrills I let out when I fell. I didn't which way was up or down, couldn't tell left from right. The scratches on my arms and face were stinging, blood slowly welling up and falling over. I don't know how long I'd been running, it felt like hours. The moon was right above my head now, shining bright, giving everything a sliver silhouette, washing everything else into black.

I was covered with dirt and my mouth tasted of metal and blood. I dropped my hands, knowing it was useless to fight. I fell the rest of the way to the ground, all of me gave out. I wheezed a dry cough and choked at the pain I felt.

He would come for me, I knew, someday.
But for now, I could fake, I could sleep and not worry, dream and not face reality. Finally, I gave into my heavy lids, letting them fall.

A single tear slipped from my eye as I let the darkness swallow me whole.

Just sleep, was the last thing his voice said.

It's short, but this was fun to write.
A lot of... Intensity in this chapter, it was very dramatic. Just wait until you actually get some clear answers...

* ATTENTION**
Which, by the way, I will give the biggest answer away on Columbus Day!
(Only since it's the closest holiday, but I already have that chapter written)

That is...7 days away. I'll try to fill in those days with more interesting chapters.
_maybe a visit from Miah??
