I ran up to the doctor, bracing myself for any bad news. "He's just fine, you can visit him in room 213 on the second floor. Right now he's a little outta it, but he'll get better. He'll be all better by tomorrow with no pain. Also the burns will heal with time, especially with how much he's out in the sun... I can tell by the tan." The doctor told me. I thanked him then ran off to find Johnny.
At first I ran to the elevator but then I lost my patients so I sprinted up the stairs. By the time the elevator got down to the floor I could've ran up the stairs and back 500 times. I found his room and ran in, shocked at the quietness. I stopped and caught my breath in the orange room with a purple couch and a red chair. I looked at the motionless Johnny, with a bag of blood running into his arm directly to his vein. I watched my blood flow through the tube and then through the needle into him then happen all over again. I grabbed a mini recorder I keep in my pocket and turned it on, so when the time is right I can show Johnny what I'm about to tell him. "I'm glad you're ok." I whispered to the kindest person I know on the stretcher. "I know you can't hear me, and if you can you won't remember a word I'm saying... But I think you should know I'm glad you want me around. I like the way you can talk to me without even saying a word. I love how you're so open with me about everything. I would give anything to save you. Maybe you feel the same. I wish you could tell me, but your still asleep. You'll still be half outta it tomorrow. Well that's what I've heard but I hope it's not true. I wanna speak to your, hear your voice. I... I need you, Johnny. Need you." I said, not thinking about what I was even saying. All I know was my mouth was running and saying everything I was feeling. I grabbed a pillow from the side of the couch and threw my blue jean jacket across my body, ready for some well needed sleep. Suddenly two words came to mind that would be my final request if I had to make one right now. "Stay gold, Johnnycake. Stay gold."

Keep running. I thought, sprinting as fast as I could. Run as fast as you can. The mustang was catching up to me and I didn't want my life to end like this. I looked back and suddenly noticed it's not me their casing now; their chasing Johnny. At first I stopped dead in my tracks thinking, what can I do? Then it donned on me. I turned around and started chasing the socs, taunting them, making them chase me again. "Run, Johnny! You've been hurt enough!" I screamed, as they finally caught me.

I woke up in a cold sweat, looking at Johnny, who was sitting up. "Johnny?" I asked, amazed at how he's sitting up and moving around. "Yea?" He asked, looking over at me. He's still half outta it. I remembered, seeing how he couldn't remember me at first. "It's me... Grace." I said trying to clear his memory up. "Grace." He said slowly, thinking more and more with ever letter he pronounced. "Grace! Sorry, Grace they gave me some stuff that made me a little loopy. "I know, the doctor informed me." I reassured him. "I wonder what Ponyboy's doing right now?" He asked, running his eyes up the red tube and up to the bag. "Also, what's this for?" He asked, his eyes growing wide as if he had a soc splitting his throat. "Don't worry, that should be the last pint you'll need. The nurse came to me during your surgery and said you needed some blood.... So I donated some." I said, quickly and quietly, blushing as I spoke. "Really? You did that for me?" He asked, mind boggled for some reason. "Yea. I think you're with it. Your gold, Johnny." I told him looking at my lap as I spoke. If I looked up I'd be embarrassed and stop saying what I'm thinking, but Johnny needs to hear it. "That's what I told Ponyboy. How'd you know?" He asked me, turning so his feet hung off his bed. "I didn't, I just thought that describes you." I said, my voice getting even quieter with each word. "Awe, C'mon, Grace, don't get shy on me. You're doing just fine." He told me, standing up and walking to me on the couch. "You just walked! Oh my gosh, how'd it feel?" I asked, knowing how long it's been. "Feels good... But here's what I've really been holding back from." He said, his body making perfect movements with each step he took. Suddenly he sat down beside me and hugged me tightly but comfortably. I gladly hugged back listening close when he whispered: "I'm glad you're a part of me." I mentally recorded the words and played them over and over.
"Johnny.... I... Listen to this...." I said, handing him the recorder and then covering my head with a pillow. He listened to it once and then again, digesting every word before he pinned me against the couch and kissed me, just all out of no where making explosions and fireworks go everywhere. We pulled apart when I heard a aggregated nurse cough, sounding very annoyed. Then she smiled. "I'm glad your feeling good, Johnny. You think you're good enough to go home?" She asked, Sweetly making his bed. "Really? I can leave? Thank you!" He squealed, getting up and letting her remove the needle from his skin. "Here's $20 go buy yourself something to wear on the helicopter ride home. The gift shops down stairs." She told him before looking at me. "Go take a shower and here's $20 for you too." She told me, handing me the money.
Johnny and I went to the elevator and got inside. There was someone inside the elevator already though, but for some reason Johnny was excited to see the mystery man.
