Alyssa
I walked through the door of my science class and took a seat next to my best friend Tess.
"Hey Tess," I said.
"Oh, Hi Alyssa,"
Tess and I had been friends from the start of this year. She had a mischievous twinkle in her blue eyes and elvish features. Her blonde curly hair had been tied back into a pony tail as always.
She and I both had dyslexia and ADHD, and we both loved Greek Mythology. It was the only subject we passed in tests.
"So, did you do much during the weekend?" I asked her.
"Nah. Although, I did get chased by a Minotaur in his underwear." She joked and we both started laughing.
It was a running joke between the two of us to pretend Greek monsters were real.
Just then the door opened and a teacher walked in. She wasn't our normal science teacher. In fact I have never seen her in our school before. She walked to the front desk and stood behind it. The room instantly grew quiet. The new teacher had green curly hair which seemed kind if odd to me.
"Good morning children. I am Miss Seethe and I will be replacing Miss Hayley today." She said.
"Where is Miss Hayley?" Someone called out.
"She is sick and unable to come to work, and next time raise your hand if you want to talk. Today we are going to do a little experiment. Please find a partner and go to a work table."
I turned around to Tess. She was staring at Miss Seethe. Her face was pale and she muttered something under her breath that I couldn't make out.
"Tess, you okay?" I asked her.
That seemed to snap her back to reality.
"Oh, yeah I'm fine. Do you want to be partners?" She asked me her voice quivering a little.
"What do you mean do I want to be partners? Of course I do. Come on let's go to a work top."
She followed me to a work top. We put on a pair of safety goggles and a white apron. I glanced back at Miss Seethe and she smiled sweetly at me. She told us all what to do and we got to work.
Halfway through the experiment I heard a loud bang coming from outside. Tess jerked her head up from what she was doing and looked out the window. No one else but Miss Seethe seamed to hear the bang. Miss Seethe looked up but ignored it and went back to what she was doing. I looked out the window over Tess's shoulder. What I saw made me freeze in my tracks. There was a black haired boy. I couldn't see how he looked like since he was facing away from me. He held a sword, but that wasn't what had scared me. He was fighting a creature with multiple heads. A hydra. But that can't be right. Hydras were mythological creatures. They were the ones Mr Bruner taught us in our Greek Mythology class. I must have been hallucinating. I looked over at Tess. She was deathly pale.
She turned and looked at me.
"We need to go. Now!"
"Go? Go where? Tess, what is going on?" I asked her.
"Shhhh. Be quiet and follow me."
With that she walked quietly and normally to the bin that was next to the door. I followed her example. Tess looked at Miss Seethe who had her head bent over her phone, her green curls were covering her face like a curtain. Tess opened the door and crept outside, beckoning for me to follow. I snuck out of the class room and closed the door behind me. Me and Tess broke into a run and headed towards the door that lead out onto the school grounds. I heard a tremendous roar. We finally reached the boy but there was no monster there. Tess ran towards him.
"Percy? Why are you here? Is everything alright at camp?" Tess asked the boy who must've been Percy.
Before he could answer I heard Miss Seethe's vice behind me. I turned around to face her and my eyes went wide in shock. Instead of Miss Seethe there stood a... a... Monster. It had green vipers instead of hair and rooster feet. Boar tusks sprouted from her mouth.
"You again?" Percy groaned. "I hope you die this time."
With that he launched at the monster. If I remember correctly this was a gorgon. She was one of medusa's sisters. But that was just greek mythology. Wasn't it?
Percy fought the monster with his sword. His attacks were really good and very skilful but the gorgon just dodged each attack.
"Percy Jackson, I don't think you did try those crispy cheese 'n' wieners last time we met. Would you like to have some. I saved some just for you." Miss Seethe asked him.
"I think I'll pass." Percy said as he drove his sword into her. With that Miss Seethe disintegrated into dust.
