Vella's POV
"Ay, so wouldn't you mind being with a man like me?" I heard Dally ask me and I playfully rolled my eyes. "Oh please, don't make me laugh. Why don't ya go flirt with Madaline?" I said, not in a serious matter.
"If I did, then Johnny would be jealous." He stated then glanced at Johnny, who was giving him the shut the hell up kind of glare. I chuckled, gently elbowing him.
Madaline was awfully quiet, however... I wonder what happened. She's probably still bummed out about her mother's death in the flames of her home. Little does she know that... I was the one who set her house on fire.
Madaline's POV
Vella seems to get along with the others just fine. That's good, she seems really nice. But I shouldn't trust her so easily. For some reason... I kind of have a bad vibe about her.
Once we got home, I had a sudden idea to trick the boys. A mischievous smirk appeared on my lips as I grabbed Vella's wrist, running to the bathroom. I locked the door and Vella looked confused.
"Uh-" I interrupted her. "You got hair dye?" I asked as she slowly nodded, taking a small bottle of brown hair dye out of her pocket.
Vella's POV
The bottle of hair dye was so I can dye my hair the same color as Madaline's. So that I can assassinate her and steal her identity.
Madaline's POV
Once I finished dying Vella's hair, we both walked out of the bathroom and saw that the gang was in the backyard, with a small campfire.
The moment I opened the door with Vella and walked out, the boys looked over to us. "Oh golly... How are we gonna tell you two apart now?" Darry asked.
"You won't tell us apart." I said. "Because we won't tell you which one's which." Vella added and we smiled at the same time, making them seem confused. We sat down with the gang as Sodapop was bragging about his girlfriend to Steve.
Johnny looked over to Vella and smiled. I can tell that he didn't know wether it was me or her. I stared at the campfire, which really reminded me of my home and... Mother. I shook my head and looked back at Johnny, who was kissing Vella.
I felt my heart sink... In an instant, I stood up and sprinted out of the house without anybody noticing. "That... That could have been me!" I yelled to myself, walking on the sidewalk. I jammed my fists in the pockets of my leather jacket and hung my head low, staring at the ground. I unexpectedly felt somebody's hand go over my mouth and dragged me away.
"Hmm?!" I couldn't speak, I looked up... And it was that Soc from a while back.
