"SAGE! SAGE!" my ears barely heard the name being screamed as someone came nearer to me. It sounded like a female. I think it was a girl.
I sat up, my eyesight still slightly blurred, but I made out the shape of person in front of me. Why did I have a headache? Why were my ears ringing?
"Sage, it's Scisco, she....she's dead" the person before me said.
Not really absorbing what whoever had said, going off who was left it was probably Stella, I shook my head. trying to be able to think properly.
"Are you okay?" the voice turned from a slightly scared tone to a more worried one, well whoever this person was, they cared about me at least a little bit.
"My head hurts. Mind repeating what you said earlier?" I asked, rubbing my temple with my palm. It helped a little bit.
"Scisco is gone," Stella replied, voice back to ice.
Sitting still, my palm still against my temple, it took me a few more seconds than normal to figure out what Stella had said, "Scisco? Is...." I trailed off after she said that, the smart one of us, she was dead.
"I figured you'd want to know," Stella stood to leave, I swiped out with my hand, trying to catch her forearm, I caught more of her wrist and hand instead, "What?" She grumbled.
"I kinda can't see straight, mind helping me back to my room?"
She sighed, grabbing the wrist of the hand that was attached to her arm, lifting me up by it, resting my arm across her shoulders, I stumbled along as we walked.
Thunk! "Ow" I groaned, stubbing my toe on a nearby chair leg. The pinky toe. I hopped onto one foot, my toe sore, and my balance screwed up, causing me to fall down, bring Stella with me, her landing on top.
"Uh, I-I'm sorry," I grunted out from beneath the other girl, she was glaring at me, and I didn't really know what to do, so I laid there, not moving.
"What the heck?" She grumbled again, rolling off me and sitting up.
"It's not like it was on purpose," I muttered.
She stood up, "I'm not helping you again," and walked swiftly out the door.
Why are women so confusing?
I managed to stand up, walking wobbly towards the door, no one was in the hallway when I got there, so I walked to my room, I should have medicine in there. My vision was still slightly blurry, but I was able to get into the place I was staying.
Opening my door and stumbling through, I managed to fall onto my bed instead of the hard floor. Laying on my stomach made my head pound harder, so I sat up, the sudden motion causing a wave of nausea to flow over me.
I pressed my palm against my temple again, applying a bit more pressure, "where is the medicine?" I mumbled, almost falling as I made my way to the bathroom. I opened the drawer on the top. Nothing. The second contained poisons of some sort. I didn't even know those were there. The last contained bottles of ibuprofen, Tylenol, and some other medicines. I grabbed the bottle of Tylenol and headed for the door. After arriving in the elevator I pressed the button for the fourth floor. That's where the medical facilities were. Why they were up that high, no clue.
The elevator stopped at the second floor and Pierre walked in. His eyes had huge bags under them, and he looked super pale.
"Hey," I muttered, after saying that my throat went dry, water would be the second stop after getting some medicine of some sort for the pounding waves of pain in my head.
His short grunt reply told me not to try and converse with him, loosing Cooper had taken a toll on him, more than I had expected.
We stopped at the third floor, and he got off. His feet were dragging, his clothes were wrinkled, and his hair was a mess. Wow he was dead, not even like a human anymore. At this point I would consider Pierre to be a zombie.
Finally, the elevator reached the fourth floor, and I walked out. No one was around. I walked down the hallway to the medical facilities, and walked in. Instant regret. The smell was horrid. I covered my nose and looked around. Scisco was there, lying in a heap, looked like most of her bones were broken. You could see blood and the skinless muscles. Come to think of it, there was no skin left on her body.
I threw up, right in front of the door, the smell of that just added to the disgustingness of the situation. I walked as fast as I could over to the medicine cabinet, finding the bottle of ibuprofen, and leaving. Closing the door behind me, I breathed in the fresh air of the hallway. It still had an odd scent, but at least it wasn't disgusting.
"I see you found her," Zayn's voice came from down the hall, towards the elevator. I nodded in response. Speaking would just cause me to vomit again.
"I meant to warn you, but I was late," he chuckled into a sigh, sitting next to me on the floor outside the medical facility.
I nodded again, my hand still covering my mouth. After sitting in silence for a few minutes, I deemed it ok for me to speak, "What happened?"
"I have no clue," Zayn sighed again, wrapping his arms around his legs and resting his head on his knees, "from the looks of it, acid was definitely a part of this."
"That explains the....." the image brought bile from my stomach into my mouth, I swallowed it back down immediately, choking a little bit.
"Yeah," Zayn nodded, shaking his head slightly. Apparently I wasn't the only one who was disturbed by the images.
"Are we having the trial or whatever today?" I asked.
Zayn shrugged, "I don't know. There isn't much evidence to go on, so we might, or might not. But no one wants to look at that mess for more than about ten seconds."
"I maxed out at three," I mutter, the horrifying image of a skinless, bloody pile of bones and muscles still fresh in my mind.
The elevator dinged, and the Skeleton walked out, "Alright kiddies, time for you to come to the meeting room."
Both Zayn and I sighed, how the heck were we supposed to figure this one out?
