Months later

Surprisingly, we had all survived about three months. No death whatsoever. The skeleton hadn't reappeared since the night he explained the death game. I was comfortable with the arrangement. I actually started talking to people. I got three good guy friends, and a girl friend. Angela, Flynn, Pierce, and Zayn. Even though we had only been friends three months, we pretty much knew as much as we could learn about one another. It really was nice.

"Yo, Angela, wanna hit up the game room?" I asked, exiting my room with her.

She looked at me and smiled, full on teeth and everything. She was a pretty girl, I'll give her credit for that, "Sure."

We entered the elevator. Something seemed off. I don't know what, but something was. I noticed a little bit of something red on the railing, didn't really pay attention to it though. No point, I was off to have fun with my friend.

We got off at the fourth floor. I was walking slightly in front of Angela, I heard a crash, not from the game room, from the art room. Personally, I had never set a foot in there, not really my style. After hearing that though, Angela and I opened the door, letting it slam against the wall.

My eyes widened. Holy shiitake mushrooms. Blood. Human. Dead. I looked and saw what had caused the crash. A girl, Stella, had dropped whatever glass thing she had been holding. She was staring at the scene. Someone really wanted to leave this place.

The scene, a human, obviously dead, as their throat was slit, was at the bottom of an easel. The canvas had a painting on it. The painting itself was of a tree. A red tree. That tree, was painted with the blood of the victim.

Angela had run. I don't even know where she went. I walked forward. A paintbrush was in the right hand of, oh god, it was Elias. I mean I didn't talk to the nerd much, but he still didn't deserve death.

"Oh my god," Stella muttered from behind me. She couldn't stop staring at his body.

I stood back up after I had figured out who it was, "Come on, let's get out of here," I said to her, then gently grabbed her wrist and took her out of the room. The shock got to me too, I just didn't really show it as much.

We left the room as a huge crowd came up from the main floor, or I was assuming the main floor. Pierce saw me holding Stella's hand and ran up to me, "What happened?" he asked, "I just saw Angela, she was terrified and bawling."

I looked at all of them, then instead of explaining, because there was no way for me to be able to achieve that in this mental state, I pointed to the art room door. He nodded, and opened it. His reaction was the exact same as mine, wide-eyed and staring.

"Oh god," was all he said.

Everyone else quickly looked in the room. And everyone had similar reactions. Utter surprise. We had been doing so good at not listening to the insane skeleton's orders.

The only one who had no reaction at all was Sophia. She simply walked over to the body, and examined.

"Oh no! Poor Elias has been murdered." Crazy Skeleton was back now that someone had died, "You can investigate the scene for the rest of today and tomorrow, then we try and figure out the killer." After that, the man was gone.

I walked in the room, observing stuff wasn't really my thing. A small vibrate in my pocket caught my attention though, the little phones everyone had contained information.

Name: Elias Smurty Age: 19 COD: Slit throat by the use of a hunting knife and so on. Who would know how to properly use a knife? I'll admit, I had been practicing. Self protection was a need living in this death trap.

I didn't really know how to investigate a crime scene, so I just looked around the room. Broken glass from Stella finding the body. Blood painted canvas. Elias was holding a paintbrush. He had a drawing of a very intricate mouse in his pocket. A saying was written in the painting, 'cats chase mice'. Hmmm. The last thing I noticed was a bloody footprint, it looked like a boot.

I had written down all that I noticed on the phone. I was not very good at this. Sophia was on this. She checked all his pockets, and the entire scene. In the duration of two days, she had probably already discovered who the culprit was. I wasn't sure though.

After falling asleep earlier than anticipated the second day we were supposed to be investigating, I awoke to the sound of a person pounding on my door. Looking at my clock it read 10:00. Apparently, I had been running behind on sleep. I quickly put my normal clothes on, and opened the door. Pierce was standing there, "Hurry, the trial, if that's what you wanna call it, is starting."

We walked down the hall to the meeting room. The food buffet had little donuts and cream puffs. Way to brighten the mood as we attempted to find out who murdered a human. What a great guy this skeleton was.
