CHAPTER 18

HOME SWEET HOME.

Nilanghap ni Lorence ang malamig na hangin ng Canada ng makababa sila ng eroplano. Yexel was following closely behind her in slower pace. She can't help but feel excited...after a long time, she's finally home. Kahit kasi press release niya na ayaw niyang umuwi, ang totoo na mi-miss pa rin niya ang lugar na ito.

"Êtes-vous prêt?" nakangiting tanong ng kanyang ni Yexel.

"Toujours."

Paglabas nila sa gate sa may arrival area, hindi niya inaasahan na makikita nila doon sina Thalia at Clarisse. Nakasuot ang dalawang babae ng kanilang combat uniform, meaning they are here for official business. Since ang pinsan lang niya ang active na miyembro ng COMBUSTIN na sakay ng eroplano, malamang sa hindi na ito ang hinihintay ng dalawa.

Nakakunot ang noo na lumapit si Yexel sa dalawang babae, both of them remained standing at attention for who knows how long and has this impassive look on their faces. When the two woman saw them or rather Yexel, they greeted him with a salute.

"At ease." seryosong sabi ni Yexel. "Anong ginagawa ninyong dalawa dito?"

"We are here for Staff Sergeant Lorence Marie Attanasia, Sir." walang emosyong sagot ni Thalia.

"You're arresting her?"

She winced slightly ng biglang tumaas ang boses ng pinsan niya. She lightly patted his shoulder, silently telling him to calm down. Hindi kasi magiging maganda kung makukuha nila ang atensyon ng mga taong naroon.

"Sir, kung aarestuhin namin si Staff Sergeant Attanasia hindi pa siya nakakababa ng eroplano may posas na siya." Clarisse answered boredly. "Just be glad that we're not the Vindice."

"And because she is a good fighter, malamang hindi lang kaming dalawa ang narito." dagdag pa ni Thalia. "We're here, as requested by the General, to include Staff Sergeant Attansia in our mission...although it was more like an order, kaya wala talaga siyang ibang choice kundi ang sumama."

"Didn't I made myself clear na hindi na sasama si Lorence sa kahit anong mission ng COMBUSTIN?"

"Yes, sir. But as I've said, the General personally requested your cousin's participation on this."

Hinawakan niya sa balikat ang pinsan. Abogado ito at alam niyang hindi ito mauubusan ng argumento. But whatever this mission is, it seems important that the General himself asked to include her. And because of that, she has no other choice but to go.

"I'll go." sabi niya while still patting Yexel's shoulders reassuringly.

"Are you sure?" naninigurong tanong ng pinsan.

"Of course, and besides kaya nga ako bumalik ng Canada para magkaroon ako ng change of scenery." nakangiting sabi niya dito bago muling bumaling sa dalawang babae. "It wouldn't hurt to have a little side trip, don't you think? Alors, où les dames?"

"You'll see."

"HERE YOU GO...WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?"

"Salamat po." sagot ng bata sa may accent na tagalog.

"Al'afw."

Nakangiting ibinigay niya sa bata ang plato na may lamang pagkain. At first, she thought that she would be involve in a Huntress kind of mission and that is capturing a dangerous lawbreaker or taking the civilians out of the battlefield to a safe place.
