CHAPTER 19

"JE VOUS REMERCIE."

Lorence smiled at the waiter who brought her food. She decided to take a break from working at her Uncle's new curriculum. And for now, she would take this moment to enjoy having lunch at her favorite cafe next to Maxie's.

When she arrived back in Canada from Insula Vindicare, she was expecting CJ to be there with her. But imagine her surprise when she went out of the plane, alone and there's no one waiting for her. As in wala talaga, nagulat pa nga ang mama niya at mga kapatid sa biglaan niyang pag-sulpot sa kanilang bahay.

Even her cousin, Yexel, was surprised to see her. She tried calling CJ but she's always out of coverage. She sighed again and started eating her chicken cordon bleu.

Ano na naman kaya ang binabalak ng babaeng iyon?

"Lorence?"

Gulat na napatingin siya sa pinanggalingan ng tinig. At mas lalo siyang nagulat ng makilala kung sino ang tumawag sa kanya. It was none other than Marcus Andersen...her ex. She smiled at his direction.

He looked exactly how she remember him, but way more happier. Nakangiting lumapit ito sa kanya, but she can easily see that he was a little edgy. Like any moment now, someone will show up and shoot him.

"It is you. Its been a while, comment avez-vous été?"

"I été mieux...actually, that is not the best word to describe it...I feel great. How are you and Caitlin?"

"She's fine." a genuinely content smile visible on his lips. "She's at home with our kids."

"That's good to hear. And I'm happy for you."

She actually mean what she said. She has no ill feeling towards him or even Caitlin. All because of a certain someone. Huminga ng malalim ang lalaki.

"Matagal na kitang gustong makausap, Lorence. So, I would take this chance and do it."

Oh no...don't tell me...

"Please tell me you're not trying to..."

She hesitated. Marcus looked at her confused, pero biglang nanlaki ang mata nito ng marealize ang ibig niyang sabihin.

"No." mabilis na sabi nito. "Of course not. Don't get me wrong. I just want to apologize for all the things that I've done."

Nakahinga siya ng maluwag, at least wala itong balak gawin kay Caitlin ang ginawa nito dati sa kanya. She smiled at him encouragingly.

"I'm very sorry sa nagawa ko sa iyo. I was too busy blindly believing that you are the one for me. Then Caitlin came, I was being arrogant thinking that I can keep the two of you. Actually, I was being a jerk."

"Yes, you were." she said jokingly that made Marcus chuckle. Then she suddenly turned serious. "What changed your mind?"

"Your friends." Marcus answered nervously. "They're...would it be weird if I told you that they scare me?"

Seriously speaking, nope not at all...he's not being weird. In fact, he is being sane. Her friends might be angels in their own unique way, but they can be scary at times. They can even turn into a demon if they wanted to. Especially that one friend who's destined to be a mob boss and the only sworn daughter of the spawn of Satan or maybe...Satan himself.

"I was suppose to follow you that day, pero hinarang nila ako." he told her. "Even resorting to keeping me at gun point."

Yup...that's definitely her.
