"Chen, I think I forgot to tell you something I was meant to tell you a week before we had to leave".
I let out a big sigh, my chest suddenly feels heavy, maybe I don't need to tell him. I stared at Chenle while he stared at me, waiting for me to continue, his expression turned into a questioning look as i kept mum.
"I heard my mom decided to go through with the engagement with the Huang's. Their son is about 2 years older than us and is going to be my fiance", "I know that his name is Renjun.... and the other Chinese guy is also a Renjun"
I wished I looked at that picture my mom desperately tried showing me of his face but I always kept pushing it back, really would be helpful right now but, I won't be telling that to Chen of course.A long pause of silence filled the room, "...but how certain are you this Renjun is the same dude you're to be engaged to?" Chenle questioned.
Wait of course, why am i jumping to conclusions so early on? that Renjun is in Beijing, studying at some boarding school. "Wait, you might be right Chen, I, we, don't even know his full name" I continued, piecing together that idea made way more sense.
"Why did i even overreact?" I asked as I picked out clothes for training.
"Exactly" said Chenle as he did the same. The training was exactly what Chenle warned me about, 4 hours of gruesome training before we were allowed back to our dorm. I don't even wanna be an idol, I'm just here for the vibes but the trainers are literally killing me. They were especially tough on Jisung, Chenle and I didn't get much of an earful, pretty sure both of us were thankful our mothers made us do dance and music at the age of 5, we would've definitely got it harder than Jisung if we refused, we are both walking clowns that can't deferentiate our left from our right.
I also unintentionally paid close attention to Renjun throughout training, hoping I could somewhat recall anything about my so called "fiance". I really shouldn't have gone over to Chenle's house each time his mother and him came to visit mine.
"ughhhh"
"Yang, are you okay? It is your first day- your body might be sore tomorrow morning, it's a given" Jaemin joked. I messed up....really thought I whined in my head, I must really be tired, I concluded.
"Aha, yeah" I said, embarassed the others probably heard me also. It wasn't even the training that got me this worked up was what I wanted to say but it was probably best if I kept it that way instead. What really took the cake was I had to wait until the others were done showering before I could take mine, sitting on the hard wood floor while waiting really made my bum sore. Chenle even had to stand outside of the bathroom to make sure none of the guys would walk in on me by accident.
Finally, finally....... I can lay down on bed, I got the top bunk while Chenle had to settle for the bottom one. The bed was rather comfortable, maybe it's because your body is just okay with anything because it's been overworked kind of comfy but comfy is comfy. I pulled my blanket to my chest before saying good night to Chenle.
"See you in the morning Chen, oh and, I'm happy that I get to do this with you and I really don't say this enough but, I'm thankful you're with me every step of the way"
"......."
"....Chen?"
"Yeah, good night wen"
