Waking up to the sound of Chenle's alarm blasting from his phone has now started to become the new normal. My routine now as soon as I have my eyes open (in order) would first be to brush my teeth then, I would wash my face and maybe squeeze in a quick shower if Chenle doesn't 'accidentally' hit the snooze button for another 5 minutes of sleep, I too would 'accidentally' fall back to sleep on the rare occasion that he does do that......but in the case he doesn't, I would take a longer shower before changing out of my pyjamas and into day clothes, a uniform on the weekdays and training clothes on the weekends. The last part was done only and strictly in the room with Chenle's back facing one of the four walls and the room door tightly shut!
And only then, would my day actually start. Guess you can already figure things out by now, well, not everything but most things. I did leave out the detail where we all needed to go to school in the morning like any other teen- other than that, nothing much really.
After school, we would be given a 30 minute break to change into more suitable clothes and something to eat, a protein bar if we're lucky and then, it was straight to training. Hours and hours of training.
The same boring routine repeats itself every single day. Every. Single. Day. without fail. Consistency. I hate, no- loathe it.
There were many times I've thought of quitting and leaving everything behind, I've may or may not have been surfing numerous airline websites for the best flight ticket price occasionally in bed. Scratch that- every night.
This must be my homesick phase, but really.... I genuinely miss my family.Speaking of family, yesterday's problem is now today's problem... I really need to think of a way to get the chance to speak to Renjun about things which is, rather difficult due to the fact there are 6 other guys in the dorm, I absolutely can't let Chenle find out, he's been acting a little strange ever since I told him about the engagement, imagine if I told him I needed to talk to Renjun, privately. He might grab both my arms this time and have my mouth taped shut.
I just need to let Renjun know that I want this engagement broken off. He should agree with no questions asked considering how I've never once took the time to be a friendly host each time he and his mom came over. Actually no, I've been a great host to his mom on a few occasions she's been over, if not, why would she agree to this engagement with my family if I hadn't. Okay, so it's pretty clear I've only been on my best behaviour when his mom is around, and a complete prick when he tags along. Another reason to hate my guts and to agree to breaking off the engagement in a heart beat.
Better say 'I do' Renjunnie-
"What's got you so deep in thought, Yang?"
Startled and also had my thoughts lost in the process, I turned to the person that now occupied the once empty bench I had my back rested against.
Talk about bad timing. The trainers just gave us our 10 minute break, can't use the let's get back to practice excuse to avoid talking. At this point, I think the universe is out to get me.Right, need to give a reply...
Stretching my lips out into a small smile, "Just missing home that's all"
It wasn't a complete lie...Nodding in understanding before continuing, "say, which part of China are you and Chenle from?". great, just my luck.
"We're both from Shanghai" I answered truthfully this time, I can't have a date with karma so soon again. His eyes now growing slightly larger, I can't really tell if it's from excitement or from shock.
"I live there too! Maybe I could have you and Chenle come over some time, my mom's worried I don't have any friends since I barely bring any over, oh right- I went to a boarding school before I ended up here that's why she's kinda worried" quickly explaining things, a little too much if you're asking me....
I already knew that was what I wanted to say but refrained from doing so to avoid being a creep and also not to cause any unnecessary conflict. I, however did nod along to show that I was listening. Renjun has been warming up to me a lot ever since that conversation we had in a public toilet...
"Ah, I see-"
"Guys, what are you guys busy conversing about? I've been learning mandarin, let me have a go!" came a new voice that interupted me from finishing my sentence. An overly excited Donghyuck appeared in front of us, wanting to show off his mandarin.
Both of us now were looking at the person standing in front of us, I had to pull the muscles in my neck a bit more though since I was still sitting on the floor with my back against the bench. Donghyuck's really making my muscles work....my neck feels a little strained right now...
Just as I was going to nicely tell Donghyuck no, another person came walking towards our direction. Now standing beside Donghyuck was Chenle, and in both his hands were two water bottles. Who even takes 5 minutes to go grab 2 bottles of water from the canteen?"I got you guys' some water too, feel free to go grab one at the front" Chenle said, side-eyeing the boy sitting on the bench a centimetre away from me as he passed me the bottle he had in his right hand.
Chenle's obvious side-eye to Renjun didn't go unnoticed since Renjun excused himself to go get a bottled water, dragging Donghyuck together with him as he sensed the atmosphere suddenly became tenser. I shot Renjun an apologising look to which he gave a small smile in return.
"Thanks"
I took the bottle offered to me graciously only to have it taken back from me when I failed to get the cap opened.
"So, what went on with you and prince charming while I was gone?"
Chenle passing me the opened bottle as he spoke. Taking it once again to take a sip of water.
"He just asked me which part of China we're from and how he'd like us to come over to his place since he also lives in Shanghai. Honestly Chen, I don't think Renjun's all that bad. This is technically like our first actual conversation though" I said before wiping the water I had on the top of my mouth on Chenle's sleeve.
"First, ew" he said pulling away from me after he had realised I wiped my water, or potentially saliva on his shirt's sleeve, "Second, you barely even know that guy" he added.
I had opened my mouth to pry further on that last sentence but, the dance trainers had already come back from the break."Everyone back into your positions, break's over!"
Signalling that break time was officially over, I quickly got up after finding new strength in me after that short? long? medium? break. That break was very much needed.
"We'll talk later" I said to Chenle before breaking out into a jog to reach the centre of the room quicker where most of the others were already grouped.
What Wengie failed to notice was the upset look Chenle had painted on his face.
