You said we'll take it step-by-step
But we've already taken too many steps back
How many times have you said that?
I've tried to count, but I've lost track
You said we'll take it little-by-little
But we've taken 'a little' too far
I needed some closure, but when you left, you left the doors ajar
You said we'll take it day-by-day
But you made it a day too late
And I'm tired of trying to wait
You said we'll meet in the middle
But there's no middle for two separate paths
Our loves been split in two, we've divided the halves
You said step-by-step,
Little-by-little,
Day-by-day,
Trust me hon, we'll meet in the middle
But there's no answer to these words you made a riddle
