Gia's POV

It had been a few days since the big sappy speech Calum read to me, and yes, he had been trying, I suppose if you call sending me chocolates and 'I'm sorry' text messages  "trying to win me back" then yes, he had been trying

I was standing in the middle of my kitchen pondering what to make for an early dinner when my doorbell rang. Walking ever so slowly towards the door I opened it and was met with a bouquet of daisies and a Calum
"Hey" Calum said quietly and awkwardly thrust the flowers forward into my hands
I grabbed them "thank you" blushing "these are- are nice. Do you wanna come in?"

He nodded and stepped into the foyer "I um-" he scratched the back of his neck and paused "would you like to go on a date with me... please?"
I really, really do "I actually was just about to have dinner" I stifled an awkward laugh "do you wanna join me?"
"Whatever you like Gia" he now had a smile on his face "so, what are we making?" He rubbed his palms together
"Um, pasta?" I said almost as a question "can you help me?"
"Of course-" I pointed him towards where the pots were and handed over the box of pasta
"I'll go put these in water" I grabbed a mason jar out of the cabinet and filled it with water for the flowers

I watched Calum cackle loudly at the TV, the corners of his eyes crinkling with happiness. Our dirty dishes were scattered about on the coffee table. As the show started to roll the credits and I flicked the tv off, sighing into the silence

"Well... I should get going" Calum stood and walked towards the door "thank you for letting me take you on a date- even if it was in your apartment" he chuckled softly
"I had a really good time" I whispered shyly and stood on my toes, planting a soft kiss on his cheek, making him go red. I stepped down, but in a second Calum had his lips on mine.
His hands went to my waist, pulling me close to him
I kissed back, but not with the same passion he had. I let him back us back to the couch slowly- this kiss wasn't hungry or filled with lust, at least not on my end, but it was warm and we both smelled like pasta. It felt safe
He laid over me as we continued to kiss. My hands were under his shirt, ready to pull it off when he stopped short
"sorry" he broke the kiss, realizing what we were doing "I- that was too- I- that was too soon- I- I didn't mean too-" he stuttered "this was too much- shit- I'm sorry..." he rubbed his face "that was too much"
"It's ok" I breathed quietly, holding back a tsunami of emotions "that- that was really nice" A tear trickled down my cheek
"Oh, koala bear..." he murmured soothingly, rubbing my shoulder "please don't cry"
"N- no I'm ok. I just miss it. I miss people caring" he leaned in, slowly grasping me in a tight hug
"I care. I really, really do" he squeezed again and then released me "it's late. Let's get you to bed" he grabbed my hand, helping me off the couch
"You don't need to baby me" I yawned, wiping the tears out of my eyes
"From experience, I've found that sleep is a great cure for sadness"
"Can you turn around please" I asked shakily
"Yeah- yeah of course" he spoke gently, waiting for me to change "g'night Gia" he kissed my forehead as I crawled into bed
"Cal?" I whispered, making him pause
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry that I hit you..."
"What?" He laughed, confusedly
"When I left" I started to cry again "I'm sorry..." I whispered
"Gigi" he sat back down on my bed, a hand rested on my hip "it's ok, that was ages ago. And yeah, it really fucking hurt, but it was too long ago to still be upset about"
"... You sure?" I said like a child
"Yes. I am completely sure. I'm the one that should be sorry, I messed up, not you"

I opened my mouth, taking a long pause "Calllll" I drawled sleepily "will you stay with me?"
"No, I can't. I'm not crossing any more boundaries right now... I'll see you soon, yeah?"
I nodded tiredly in response
"Sleep well Gee" He kissed me again, on the lips this time and shut the lights off, walking out the door
