"I'm bored." I hissed at Mako, after finishing the curry in front of me. He sighed.

"We can't go to the river, Kairi. We have to find another way to awaken your bending." He insisted but I growled in aggravation.

"We've tried everything, but my chi is blocked and this training isn't helping. I have to get to that lake." I persisted stubbornly.

"Do you want to get caught?" He hissed in annoyance.

"I'll wear a disguise." I prompted. "I'll dye my hair dark, put in contacts, steal a uniform. Once I've got my bending it'll be a breeze to get out of their. They won't even have reinforcements to catch me." I reminded him. He sighed.

"What if you get caught?" He asked.

"You'll come save me." I responded.

"What if I get caught?" He asked.

"We can be caught together." I retorted. He gave me a serious look and I cracked a smile."Come on, it's worth the risk. I need to be able to bend and this is the only way. I'm willing to take the risk." I told him. He sighed and I knew at that moment I had won. He turned to the kitchen, walked in and then returned with his credit card, handing it too me.

"Go into one of the towns and buy the supplies you'll need to disguise yourself. Please don't overspend, my inheritance is only so much." He warned.

"What is your inheritance?" I asked.

"About...a hundred million, but it's probably less by now. That's not important, don't go crazy." He told me seriously. I rolled my eyes, grabbing my coat and putting it on, pulling my hood over my sun bleached locks. My hair, already a platinum blonde, looked even whiter (though not quite white) from the heavy sun it'd taken while on the lost islands. My skin still refused to tan though.

"You can't give a girl a credit card and then tell her not to go crazy, Mako." I called over my shoulder just as I walked out of the cottage.

"How did you spend a thousand dollars in two hours?" He asked, eye twitching. I smirked, dumping the contents from my bags on the living room floor.

"Well I had to buy a lot of hair chalk because I really don't want to dye my hair black, so I thought I'd just use some natural colored hair chalk and I had to go to the eye doctor and get fitted contacts and get them in a brown color. I also bought spray tan, makeup, and a couple new outfits because I really needed to relieve some stress." I informed him. He rubbed his temples in annoyance.

"You're killing me." He groaned. I shrugged, opening the first pack of hair chalk and walked into the bathroom, starting to turn my blonde curls a chocolate brown. It took two packs to fully color my hair and then I I changed into a swimsuit and started on the spray tan, turning my skin a fake orangey-tan color that was hideous. While that was drying up completely I put in the brown contacts, trying not to cry when I accidentally poked myself in the eye. Then, I pulled on a black tee and dark skinny jeans and ankle boots. I pulled my jacket on and then turned to Mako and we made a quick plan.

I walked through the compound surrounding the lake, not yet having been stopped for being suspicious. I turned a corner and almost swore mentally. It was that fire-bender guy! I jumped back behind the corner, trying to calm my unsteady heart. Holy shit, he'd recognize me for sure! Okay, I just needed to find another way to the lake. With a deep breath I stepped out and turned the other way, hoping that everything would be okay. Step after step after step and nothing.

I was okay, I realized as I turned down the next corner. I turned another and then another and finally came to the door leading to the lake. I opened the door. "Get her!" A voice yelled and I looked behind me, seeing Fire guy chasing me down the  hallway. I eeped and dashed through the door towards the lake. Fire followed after me but I jumped, foot hitting the tip of the water just as fire hit my back. I shrieked as I fell into the water, my back burning. But then, it stopped. I surfaced to the water on my back, simply floating. In front of me stood a woman in white clothing with a large straw hat over her head. She looked at me over her shoulder and her eyes met mine and glowed. Light filled behind my eyes and I lost all awareness.
