Loneliness can drive someone do complete madness, not interacting with anyone at all, the only thing being the voice in their head in an endless conversation with itself. Michael missed out on socialization all his life, all he did during high school was study so he could get away from that place as quickly as possible, same with university and now there he was, sitting on his couch all by himself in a house too big for him.

A sigh echoed through the empty house, the almost young adult tried to keep his mind in its happy place, Michael didn't want to fall back to that dark place inside his head because he had worked so hard to get out of there. He was done with shaking hands with the dark parts of his thoughts.

He had spend his whole life avoiding human contact and now tears were welling up in his eyes because he wanted someone, a cute boy to hold during the night, maybe play with his hair and compliment him until his cheeks burnt from blushing so much.

Michael quickly reached for his phone and scrolled until he found his father's contact, he didn't think twice before pressing the call button.

It rang a couple times before the familiar loving voice spoke through the phone. "Hello, son."

"Hi, dad." Michael's father sighed instantly when hearing his son's sad voice.

"Today I found my old Aerosmith record and I thought of you, kid." He knew exactly what his dad was doing, distracting him and that's just what Michael needed.

"Well, I should visit this weekend and pick it up." Michael smiled at the thought of visiting his parents, the only place that felt like home to him.

"Yeah, we miss you, Mike." His father's voice had a sad tone to it, Michael knew his parents were beyond proud of him but they did miss him more than anything after all he was his only son. "How's work though? You likin' it so far?"

"Dad, I've been working there for almost five months and you still ask me that every time we speak." A small laugh left Michael's lonely pink lips after hearing his father's words.

"I know son, I just want to see you happy."

Michael's eyes widen as the door shook violently with the impact of walkers slamming themselves against it.

Calum was still trying to contact the rest of his group and Michael was getting annoyed because obviously they weren't going to respond. "Calum, can you stop? They're obviously out of reach or something."

Calum's movements stopped abruptly and he looked at Michael in shock. "Or maybe they're fucking dead, Michael. Do you know what is like to think your friends are dead?!" Calum said rather loudly making the noises just outside the door become louder with the reminder of the human flesh that was inside the room.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Calum, I can't fucking relate! I'm quite familiar with the feeling of having dead friends though!" Michael spoke not as loud as the other boy but the glare he sent Calum's way made up for it because the maori looked away in guilt.

The silence took over small room, well not silence because the horrendous sound of death knocking on the door worried both of them more and
more as time went by.
