Oh my god I feel terrible for not updating this for literally 3 months! I've been swamped with homework and I know I'm just giving you all the excuses in the book but I've had terrible writers block for this story! I feel so bad for leaving this hanging for this long.  And this is so short so I apoligize but I couldn't let this go another day!

Chapter 18

Harry's POV

"Real funny."   I see the smirk on her face.

"What?"  I ask her.

"You've only known me a couple days, and you've been a better friend to me than any friend I've ever had before."  What a depressing thought.

"That's a shame."  She stays quiet.  "Are you hungry?  I'm hungry."  I hear her laugh a bit.

"Yeah there's a place down here a bit that has every fried food you can think of."  She smirks and looks up at me.  "I mean if you're not watching your weight of course?"  She laughs along with me.

It was only a minute or so to get to the place she was talking about.  Where we ordered fried potato rings, fried oreos, and funnel cake.  We played it safe.

So we chatted for quite awhile about our memories of the beach.  Her uncle used to bring her here every year until she started high school.  That's when she asked me about my memories of the beach.  This is when I told her stories of the lads and I getting time to run around on the beach.  She asked about our first music video, so I told her how we ran around the beach for 2 days like idiots.   Then she told me that she had actually visited where we filmed some of the Gotta Be You music video.  Around that time we finished our snacks and left to walk on the boardwalk.   The past hour felt like 5 minutes.

When I look over at her, she's smiling at something with this admiring look in her eyes.  "What?"  I ask her.

She looks over at me then shows me with her eyes what she was looking at.  I follow her gaze to an arcade game.  A couple of people are standing near it.  When I look closer I see two of the guys standing there are holding hands.

"When you see a girl and a guy our age holding hands, you always think it's a superficial relationship that'll never really last."  I see her turn her head to face me.  "I mean whenever I see a couple, I roll my eyes because love at this age is so rare.  But for those guys to have that kind of courage to hold hands in public, especially these days, means a lot more.  Or at least to me."

I look down at her and smile.  She smiles then looks back over at them.

"It reminds me of what love really should be like, two people that really care about each other and they just make each other happy.  No matter what, they're soul mates." I don't think I've ever been captivated by someone the way I am with Summer right now.

"Not a lot of people think the way you do."  I look forward at the crowds and out at the shore.

"Well I don't think it."  I look back at her confused.  She looks me straight in the eye and says, "I never made a conscious choice to support it."  She pauses.

"What do you mean?"  That was quite a contradictory statement.

"How can you look at two people that are truly in love and say it's wrong?" I look away from her. "That's like telling a parent to stop loving their children.  Or for you to stop loving your best friend.  That's bullshit."  My head snaps back at her.  "Shit.  I'm sorry.  Fuck, Harry I didn't-"

She looks like she's about to stop breathing.  I barely catch what she's saying anymore. "What?"

"No like... that whole um... no I didn't..." She stumbles over her words then over the ground.

I reach out to keep her up, but she face plants anyway. "Oh god." I kneel down as the people behind us pass by rudely.   "Are you ok?"  She looks up at me with guilt all over her face.

"No."  She says sarcastically, but I hear the worry in her voice.  She laughs nervously and helps herself off the ground.  "I'm sorry.  Every time I open my mouth I fuck something up."

I chuckle.  She thinks way too much.  "Let's get you to the condo." I put my hand on her back.

"What condo?"  Her nose scrunches.

"Security's idea.  I'd rather sleep under the stars in like a tent or something."  That would probably end well."

"Dude it's like really windy and cold at night."  I laugh at how quickly her whole attitude can change.  "But wait we're staying overnight?"

"Yeah, unless your parents want you back home.  Our driver can take you."

She scrunches her face up.  "I'm sure I can weasel my way into staying.  I mean it's not like I've ever done something that would make them think I'd be doing something bad, jah feel me?"

"Yea, I jah feel you." She starts cracking up.

"Dude!  No!"  She covers her mouth and looks over at me.  Her eyes are starting to tear up.

"What?"
