Chapter 15
Niall's POV
"That's the big dipper. And the little dipper is right there." She gets closer to me when she says right, and points with her arm fully stretched.
I turn my head to look at her. Her eyes look lit up by the stars. There is this amazement written across her face. "Where?" I ask her not extremely interesting in the stars themselves.
She moves closer to me. I look up at the sky. Without even looking at me, she puts her face right next to mine. Our cheeks touching. She tries to point at it so I can tell where it is. I follow her finger to the sky and see it clearly. It wasn't exactly hidden.
"You see it?" She asks as if I'm not really here. I hum in response. "It's beautiful." She drops her hand and lays back next to me, shoulder to shoulder with my arm behind her head. "All the stars. The closest one besides the sun is 4.2 light-years away. And all of the stars we see right now could not exist at this very moment, and we wouldn't know for years." I turn my head to look at her. "Their light would just burn out... and no one would know... until it's too late." I'm captivated by her voice. I watch her eyes travel over the night sky. "The farthest star that you can still see with the naked eye was 7.5 billion light-years away. It was the brightest thing ever seen in the sky by humans. And then in 2008 it exploded." I hear a bit of a giggle in her voice. "It's probably a black hole now." She sighs. "I wonder what a black hole looks like."
"Dark." Her smile pops on her face in a split second. She giggles and turns her head towards me.
"You're not funny." She searches my eyes just like she did with the sky.
"You laughed." I point out smirking at her.
"Yeah I've been doing that a lot recently." She looks back up at the sky. "I wonder why." She looks at me from the corner of her eye. A smile peeking on her lips.
"I think you know why." I lean over a kiss her cheek. She squirms a little with a big smile on her face.
"Did you know none of the constellations overlap each other?" I look up at the sky.
"Why do you know so many things about the stars?" I ask.
"In space anything is possible. There are other sets of us out there. Lying in a field looking up at the stars just like us. They could see our sun and just see a star just like that one." She points at a random star.
"Or that one." I point at the sky too.
She moves her arm. "And in that solar system, we could be the color blue like avatars." I hear the smile on her face.
"We could be underwater in that solar system." I point at a different star.
"We could be robots in that solar system."
"In that one we could be superheroes." She laughs.
"We could be little kids." She puts her hand down on her stomach.
"We could be an old elderly couple." I stop pointing at the sky.
"We could be in lov-" she lets out a little cough. "I mean we could be Eskimos."
